Needs analysis for the sport and health education teachers after the implementation of learning-teacher program AbstractThe study aims at mapping the in-depth and concrete teacher competence and recommendation formula toward the concept of effective, efficient, productive, creative and innovative job implementation in implementing the special program of teachers’ competence and professionalism development in the Province of Yogyakarta Special Region. The study is a qualitative descriptive research with explorative-reflective nature. When the study was conducted, the subjects were 30 teachers of Sports and Health Education in the Elementary Schools degree throughout the Province who had been selected by means of purposive sampling technique. Then, the data in the study were gathered bt means of identification or record sheets. After the data had been gathered, a focus group discussion (FGD) was conducted by involving several teachers who had also been selected by means of purposive sampling technique. Then, in analysing the data for the study the following procedures were applied: (1) data classification; (2) data display; (3) interpretation and conclusion drawing/verification. Based on the results of the study, it might be concluded that the teachers of Sports and Health Education in the Province of Yogyakarta Special Region are still troubled with their capacity of operating Information Technology, the clarity of Learning-Teacher Program and the low guidance provided by the relevant institution; as a result, the implementation of the program among the teachers become stagnant. The teachers in the program prefer Community-Based Learning as the method for the program implementation. In relation to the demand, the concept of Five Disciplines by Peter Senge that includes personal mastery, mental models, building shared vision, team learning and system thinking should be encouraged in empowering the teachers of Sports and Health Education.
Studies on youth physical activity have been growing out of the agenda to enrich literature thus far having been predominated by the epidemiological research. Epidemiological studies provide insightful knowledge about the youth's predispositions and competences for participating in physical activity. Despite the important contribution, epidemiological studies fail to take into account young people's lived experience regarding physical activity. This is especially true when more information is needed to look at their particular experience of social interruption as a result of transnational mobility. The current study sought to understand how youth make sense of life events regarding physical activity throughout the process of transnational mobility. More specifically, seventeen Indonesian youth participated in the interviews. Open ended interviews were conducted to specifically obtain their embodied experiences, lived experience of doing physical activity within contexts of different nationals. All recorded interviews were verbatim transcribed for further phenomenological analysis. Four themes emerged from the analysis including (1) physical activity within the Indonesian and New Zealand contexts, (2) comparison, (3) facilitators and barriers, and (4) adaptation. Their physical activity experiences intersect with home country historical backgrounds, immigration events, and acculturation processes.
This research provides an insight on ethical issues in researching immigrant youth physical activity from our experience in New Zealand. Ethics is not be an area that is wellexplored in immigrant studies, particularly among immigrant youth. The available literature appears to be messy because immigrant studies is highly contextual and case specificand so the ethical considerations and problems raised from an immigrant research project are mostly unique. For this reason, pulling some studies together and organizing them in a paper are quite challenging. However, we found out that the conception of Culturally Responsive Relational Reflexive Ethics (CRRRE) became very helpful. We will use these three ethical dimensions not as categorical but more as technical in organizing our writing so as to make it easy in writing and reading. And in addition to CRRRE, we will include commitment as ethics in studying immigrant youth physical activity. Indeed, the ethics we address could be multidimensional and therefore overlapping. More specifically, we should address issues on how these ethical dimensions could become problematic when being practiced vis-à-vis (a) the researchers' sociocultural backgrounds and ideologies; (b) the participants' sociocultural background and immigrant experience; and (c) the phenomenon of immigrant youth living in New Zealand.
Overtraining the body with exercises and without adequate recovery time would lead to various health conditions. The overtraining conditions, usually leads to oxidative stress which damages the body tissue. This study aims to analyze the effect associated with a recovery duration of three and seven days in order to prevent myocardial damage due to overtraining. The research made use of a post experimental test of 32 rats which were divided into 4 groups namely 1) proportional sport, 2) overtraining, 3) overtraining with recovery of 3 days and 4) overtraining with recovery of 7 days. Histopathology examination was performed at the end of the experiment period on the rats. The results obtained has it that there were myocardial damage in the left ventricular hypertrophy, necrosis and chromatin condensation of these rats. Posttest comparative analysis was done to analyze and obtain a posttest mean for each group. For MDA myocardium concentration, Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA) results showed F to be equal to 6,248 with p = 0,002; SOD myocardium concentration was F = 19.519 with p = 0.0001; Left Ventricular Hypertrophy Index was F = 140,732 with p = .0,0001; Index of myocardium necrosis between groups, was F = 201,911 with p = 0.0001; Chromatin condensation index on the cardiomyocyte between the study groups was F = 524,466 with p = 0.0001. Post hoc tests showed different significant concentration at MDA and SOD without any different in the left ventricular hypertrophy, necrosis and chromatin condensation. The results of this study proves that there is no effect inmyocardial damage as a result of overtraining from three and seven days, notwithstanding the fact that recovery decreases MDA myocardium concentrations, increases SOD myocardium concentrations, but does not prevent left ventricular hypertrophy, necrosis and chromatin condensation.
