Educational institutions are places for educational activities that aim to change lives for the better. The development of digital technology requires educational institutions to establish and develop the education system continuously. This article explores the challenges and prospects of Islamic educational institutions and their sustainability in the digital technology era. The method used for this article is the qualitative inductive content analysis method. The findings are 1) Political changes, economic changes, and socio-cultural changes in society require Islamic education institutions to upgrade the institutional system and control all institution's activities. 2) Islamic education institutions' prospects include improving human resources and service quality, effectiveness and efficiency of financial management, and emphasizing promotion costs. 3) The future of Islamic education institutions, namely the sustainability of the institution's existence, the sustainability of the quality level of the institution, and the sustainability of invested resources.
This article aims to discuss Islamic religious education from a multicultural perspective in Indonesia. The research method uses a literature review with content analysis. The study results show that the diversity of the Indonesian nation in various ethnicities, religions, and races is a nation's wealth asset. However, it can lead to conflict when pluralism needs to be appropriately maintained. Plurality has the potential for conflict with religious issues, which is the forerunner of societal divisions. The article contributes to providing knowledge related concepts and ideas about Islamic religious education with a multicultural insight perspective to realize the world of Islamic religious education that is Rahmatan Lil Alamin.
Diversity has existed for a long time. Diversity is not a tool to cause conflict between humans. However, improper multicultural management can lead to conflict. Multicultural awareness is needed for humans with various differences, so that humans can live side by side and respect each other. This study is a normative qualitative through library research. The research is oriented towards discovering the conception of multicultural awareness as the Isyarah of Al-Qur'an. Primary data sources are taken from the Al-Qur'an and secondary data are taken from Tafsir books. This result shows that multicultural awareness in the Al-Qur’an perspective is essentially an attitude of glorifying humans regardless of background differences. A society that has multicultural awareness can be seen from the suitability of its attitude with characteristics and ethics. Multicultural awareness can build wasaṭiyyah attitude. With these characteristics, a person's multicultural awareness will be able to prevent radical-liberal behavior.
<div><p class="ABSTRAKen">This article related to the dynamic of islam intellectual network in Cirebon post Sunan Gunung Jati in the late of 16 century until early of 18 century. This era has been crucial because every dynamic of islam intellectual network happened after the death of Sunan Gunung Jati. Then the implication had headed to the existence of islamic education institution which is held in Keraton, one of the basis where islamic intellectual network in Cirebon, and also to the dominant intellectual discourse that evolved for two centuries. There are three stages of islam intellectual network progress in Indonesia which is related to middle east as a center and also main reference since 13 century untill 20 century. Firts, islamisasi (islamisation). This was when Islam for the first time spreaded by moslem’s traders, travelers, and moslem scholars (ulama). This happened around 13 century. Second, neo-sufism. Neo sufism has occured for 3 centuries, since 16 centuries till 18 centuries. In this era some moslem scholars have had significant roles to disseminate knowledge and movement from middle east to Nusantara. And third, purification of islam. Some moslem scholars that have already finished their study and hajj became active to spread the ideas of purification of islam which developed in middle east.</p></div><p> </p><p> </p>
The study aimed to understand the concept of Hijrah as perceived by Sekarmaji Marijan Karto-suwiryo or commonly known as Kartosuwiryo who was encouraged to establish the movement of Darul Islam/Tentara Islam Indonesia (DI/TII) as a jihad (struggle) against injustice in all life as-pects of Indonesian citizen. The study applied historical research that comprised of four stages, namely heuristic, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The research relied on the primary data of newspaper articles, magazines, journal articles, books, and other written documents. The data were qualitatively ana-lyzed to identify the concept of Hijrah that Kartosuwiryo perceived. The study revealed that Kartosuwiryo thought that Indonesia in the colonialization period was simi-lar to the age of ignorance. The human exploitation through slavery and violence triggered to estab-lish DI/TII movement to change Indonesia as Islamic state and implement Islam in all aspects of life. The study concluded that Kartosuwiryo perceived Hijrah as a jihad against injustice implemented through establishing DI/TII movement. It was intended to break the injustice in all life aspects of Indonesian citizens.
In Indonesia where the majority of the population is Muslims, pesantren that has thrived since the arrival of Islam to the shore of the archipelago is still out of the central field of the national educational system. As such, pesantren was and is forced to continually be aware with ongoing new educational developments in the country as the result of modernisation and globalisation. The foundation of Ma'had Aly is one of the ways taken by the pesantrens to response to the current developments within Muslim communities, to define or even maintain their central roles as well as to preserve their tradition in such a modernised and globalised Indonesia. By exploring the foundation of Ma'had Alys in Kuningan as a case study, this article closely elaborates how the pesantren world engages these processes both in their cirricular settings and practices and provides how it negotiates with the ongoing changes within its surrounding communities. Abstrak: Di Indonesia yang mayoritas penduduknya adalah Muslim, pesantren yang telah berkembang sejak kedatangan Islam di nusantara masih "terpinggirkan" dari sistem pendidikan nasional. Dengan demikian, pesantren dipaksa untuk terus menyikapi perkembangan pendidikan yang sedang berlangsung sebagai hasil dari modernisasi dan globalisasi. Pendirian Ma'had Aly adalah salah satu cara yang diambil oleh pesantren untuk menanggapi perkembangan saat ini dalam masyarakat Muslim, untuk menentukan atau bahkan mempertahankan peran sentral mereka serta untuk melestarikan tradisi mereka dalam kontek modernisasi dan globalisasi di Indonesia. Dengan mengeksplorasi dasar Ma'had Alys di Kuningan sebagai studi kasus, artikel ini menjelaskan bagaimana dunia pesantren melibatkan proses ini baik dalam pengaturan dan praktek kurikulum mereka dan memberikan bagaimana melakukan negosiasi dengan perubahan yang sedang berlangsung dalam masyarakat sekitarnya .
