IR 4.0 is a new phase for the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing industry that focuses on cloud computing, interconnectivity, the Internet of Things, machine learning, cyber physical learning and creating smart factory. The purpose of this article was to unveil the key factors of the IR 4.0 in Malaysian smart manufacturing context. Two key data collection methods were used: (1) primary data from the face-to-face interview (2) secondary data from the previous study. Significantly, five key factors of IR 4.0 consider for this study. Autonomous production lines, smart manufacturing practices, data challenge, process flexibility, and security. As a result, IR 4.0 for quality management practices might get high impact for the best performance assessment, which addressed in various ways; there are few studies in this area have been conducted in Malaysian manufacturing sector, and to recommend the best practices implemented from the managers’ perspectives. For scholars, this enhances their understanding and highlight opportunities for further research.
E-commerce has been extensively capitalized by big companies. However, little is known about the adoption of e-commerce by small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Many might do so to reap the efficiency of the internet to benefit their businesses. Thus, the study aims to investigate factors affecting adoption of e-commerce by SMEs in Melaka. Five dimensions, namely, Perceived Ease of Use, Security, Relative Advantage, Perceived Compatibility, and Top Management Support were drawn from Technology acceptance model and UTAUT. This research had adopted a quantitative research method that utilized questionnaires to collect data from SMEs in Melaka. About ninety-two percent of 219 questionnaires were collected. Results indicated that these dimensions were significant to influence the adoption of e-commerce among SMEs in Melaka. This finding is useful for SMEs and other organizations to understand what factors are important in making decision about adopting e-commerce. We recommend future researches to study on the behavioral aspect of ecommerce decisions and implementations.
Abstract. Information sharing serves as an essential approach for the companies and antecedents of supply chain integration. Nowadays, with the highly competitive in halal food market, information sharing has become more conceivable. Furthermore, information sharing in supply chains has become more efficient by having meaningful relationship with the members of halal supply chain. There is a lack information regarding information shared within members in halal food supply chain literature. The information needed in order to shed the light of how companies nowadays can be more competitive. The purpose of this study is to investigate to what extent the information can be shared among the members of the halal food supply chain. This study elaborates the barriers of information sharing leading to enhanced supply chain integration among enterprises, as a result. The interview with four managers from halal certified food manufactures has been deployed to get rich data about the information sharing. The finding shows that most of cases halal certified food manufacturers has low communication with their suppliers. Trust is the key enablers within the members of halal food supply chain.
Values and competencies of the university researchers, and technology transfer officers strongly influence the commercialization process of the university-led intellectual property. Existing studies provide limited explanation as to how researchers' values and capability as entrepreneurs and as collaborating agent with other stakeholders may influence commercialization process. More studies need to be done to explain the dimensions of values and competency in the process of commercializing university intellectual property. Existing studies do not provide sufficient evidence about the relationship between values and competence. Studies on the role of values in intellectual property commercialization are almost non-existent. This study reviews the existing studies on values and competencies to explain the success and failure of commercialization in university-led intellectual properties.
Abstract. The impact of business excellence with key elements embedded can be a tool for organization to determine opportunities and gain knowledge. This will help the organization to learn how to adopt highperformance and achieve competitive advantage. Through the business excellence model, the organization can execute their strategies to determine, forecast and survive in highly competitive market. This paper presents on identifying those elements in business excellence model (leadership, strategy and planning, customer focus, measurement, analysis, and knowledge management, operation focus) that impact on operational performance in halal certified food manufacturers in Malaysia. Data for the study were collected from 100 halal certified food manufacturers and the relationship proposed in the framework were tested using structural equation modelling (SEM). The result indicated that all the elements of Business Excellence cannot lead to operational performance except for customer focus.
Abstract. Business excellence is a key tool to improve the efficiency of the company. Through the business excellence model, the organization can execute their strategies to determine, forecast and survive in highly competitive market. This paper presents on identifying those elements in business excellence model (leadership, strategy and planning, customer focus, measurement, analysis, and knowledge management, operation focus) this paper provides empirical support for halal food certified companies reviewing and improvement. Survey has been done and analyzed among halal food certified manufacturers in Malaysia. Thus, seven categories with 35 key elements regarding American MBNQA and eight equations are examined. The main conclusions are that, strategy and measurement, analysis and knowledge management are the main weakness of the halal food certified manufacturers in Malaysia. Overall, halal food certified manufacturers in Malaysia is at the silver level of excellence based on the calculation.
