AbstractThe goal of this study is to question the influence of our former teachers in our professional career as teachers.Although the teaching courses at University emphasize the modern theories of theaching and learning, frequently the attitudes of the new teachers in classroom are mirrored in the behavior of their former teachers. The analyses showed that not only the theacher's training occurs at University but during all the school life and after the graduation. The discussion about the histories of lives should be used to question our conceptions of learning and teaching, the role of the school, the teachers and the students, towards changes in education.
Multimodalidade. Gestos. Sala de aula. Ensino Superior. INTERACTIONS BETWEEN SEMIOTIC MODES AND THE MAKING OF MEANING IN LESSONS OF HIGH EDUCATION ABSTRACT:The interest on investigating the contribution of language to the making of meaning in classroom has increased lately. The present paper aims to investigate how two professors mobilize differentsemiotic modes and promote interactions among the modes for the making of meaning in classes of Organic Chemistry. We recorded a set of classes of both professors and we selected an episode of each one of the professors for analysis. We observed that both professors use and articulate several modes idiosyncratically in their interactions with students. The analysis demonstrates the importance of the use of different-semiotic modes for communication such as: speech, gestures, the gaze, ball/stick models and drawings on the board. In addition, it is notable that the articulation of semiotic modes enhances the making of meaning in the classroom.
AbstractWidely available textbooks are an important source of research for high school teachers for both content selection and class preparation. As an attempt to adapt to new educational trends, these textbooks have introduced texts and subjects relevant for the discussion of current problems of the modern society. In the chemistry textbooks the Greenhouse Effect is one of these subjects. The aim of this work is to analyze the elements and discussion given in the textbooks on this topic. It was observed in general a
Ensino Superior. Formação pedagógica.Abstract: The didactic training in higher education of Brazilian teachers' has received more attention in recent years. Therefore, we investigate students' perceptions from the Post-graduate Degree Program in Chemistry at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Thus, we recognize that these students don't feel prepared and express their need for a didactic training, as they are without any pedagogical preparation. The initiatives offered in the program in question, in the last decade, recognize the students' needs, but they have to be extended into a reflective process.
Afetividade. Abstract:The classroom is a space for human formation, consisting of diversity and heterogeneity. The pedagogic relations that happen inside are full of subjectivity. With the goal to understand, through empirical data, which are the students and teachers' perceptions about the relationships that unfold in the classroom, we apply a data collection instrument to teachers and students of college classes of Chemistry undergraduate majors in UFMG. Our data analysis shows that the teachers and students' expectations diverge in some ways and, probably that is no pre-established "contract" of each one's role. The affectivity in every human relationship and including that which surrounds the teacher/ students' relationship is not well understood. We noted that there is, also, certain "apprehension" about involvement when the affective relationship is understood as a relationship of friendship or empathy.
