Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has been widely used in the detection of targets and strongly depends on the interaction and the distance between the targets and nanoparticles. Herein, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were first easily synthesized on a large scale via a water bath method, especially Uio-66 and Uio-67. MOFs embedded with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for SERS enhancement were successfully fabricated via an impregnation strategy. The synthesized AuNPs/MOF-199, AuNPs/Uio-66, and AuNPs/Uio-67 composites, with LSPR properties and high adsorption capability of MOFs to preconcentrate the analytes close to the surface of the AuNPs, exhibited excellent SERS activity. The effects of the reducing concentrations of sodium citrate on the SERS activity, and the stability and reproducibility of the AuNP/MOFs have been discussed via the detection of acetamiprid. The SERS intensity enhanced by the composites was retained for more than 40 days under ambient conditions with the reducing concentrations of sodium citrate at 0.16%, 0.20%, and 0.16%. The limits of detection with the signal/noise ratio higher than 3 at the characteristic peak 632 cm were 0.02 μM, 0.009 μM, and 0.02 μM for acetamiprid. Most interestingly, the AuNP/MOF-199 composites, whose morphology was long tube sheet, exhibited excellent SERS activity. These novel composites with high sensitivity, stability, and reproducibility provide a new route for the detection of pesticides via the SERS technology.
Exosomes are known as one of extracellular vesicles, which are found in various body fluids and released by cells. As transport carrier, exosomes participate actively in intercellular communication and reflect their characteristics uniquely to the origin cells. Due to their unique biological physical properties and physiological functions, exosomes are considered to be one of best biomarkers of cancer diagnosis. At the same time, exosomes are potential therapeutic targets and drug delivery carriers. Therefore, the characteristics, functions and analytical methods of exosomes have increasingly attracted wide attention among scientists. In this review, the recent research progress on the basic characteristics and functional applications of exosomes are summarized. Furthermore and importantly, this review focuses on the recent advance in the purification and test methods of exosomes in recent years. Finally, issues pertaining to exosome detection are presented. Based on newly discovered characteristic of exosomes, the opportunities and challenges for future research of the purification and quantitative detection methods are outlined.
Phthalate esters (PAEs) have attracted much attention because of their ubiquity and toxicity. However, previous studies mainly focused on the occurrence of PAEs controlled by the Environmental Protection Agency and neglected most uncontrolled PAEs. In this study, the occurrence of 21 PAEs, including 6 controlled and 15 uncontrolled PAEs, was investigated in polyethylene terephthalate (PET)-bottled drinking water samples purchased from markets in Beijing. Seventeen PAEs were detected in all samples, with dibutyl phthalate, diisobutyl phthalate, and dimethyl phthalate as the predominant compounds. Correlation analysis suggested that PET bottles might be one of the potential sources of PAEs in PET-bottled drinking water. The human health risks assessments indicated little or no risks from four controlled PAEs in bottled water. In comparison, the risks of uncontrolled PAEs should be of greater concern for their ubiquities in bottled drinking water.
A novel detection method of small molecules, competitive bio-barcode amplification immunoassay, was developed and described in this report. Through the gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) probe and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) probe we prepared, only one monoclonal antibody can be used to detect small molecules. The competitive bio-barcode amplification immunoassay overcomes the obstacle that the bio-barcode assay cannot be used in small molecular detection, as two antibodies are unable to combine to one small molecule due to its small molecular structure. The small molecular compounds, triazophos, were selected as targets for the competitive bio-barcode amplification immunoassay. The linear range of detection was from 0.04 ng mL−1 to 10 ng mL−1, and the limit of detection (LOD) was 0.02 ng mL−1, which was 10–20 folds lower than ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay). A practical application of the proposed immunoassay was evaluated by detecting triazophos in real samples. The recovery rate ranged from 72.5% to 110.5%, and the RSD was less than 20%. These results were validated by GC-MS, which indicated that this convenient and sensitive method has great potential for small molecular in real samples.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
