Background. Adolescent girls are at risk for iron deficiency anemia (IDA) due to the higher demand of iron for growth and the loss of blood during menstruation. Consumption of foods containing iron that have higher bioavailability can reduce the risk of IDA although diets that are largely plant-based, like those consumed by many Sundanese people, may not contain sufficient bioavailable iron. Here, we investigated the correlation between plant-based diets and IDA in adolescent Sundanese girls who were students at Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia. Methods. A total of 176 girls from seven Islamic boarding schools in Tasikmalaya were recruited. Nutritional intake data were obtained using 24-hr dietary recall. Blood samples were analyzed with a Sysmex-XNL instrument to measure several parameters including hemoglobin, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC). Results. The prevalence of IDA in the study population was 22.2%. Iron intake was 6.59 mg/day, which was lower than the recommended amount. The molar ratio of phytic acid to iron and vitamin C to iron was 8.72 and 0.03, respectively. There was a correlation between heme iron and both hemoglobin ( p = 0.009 ) and hematocrit ( p = 0.018 ). Iron from meat, fish, and poultry was correlated with hemoglobin ( p = 0.009 ) and hematocrit ( p = 0.011 ). Conclusion. The Sundanese plant-based diet did not affect the IDA status. Instead, IDA was associated with consumption of less animal-based foods that have iron with higher bioavailability. Increased access to an animal-based menu at the school cafeteria could be an approach to prevent IDA in students at Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia.

Indonesia targeting that at least 70% of the population vaccinated and formed the herd immunity. However, there are several challenges in reaching that target, such as the anti-vaccine movements, disinformation or hoaxes, fear of the Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI), and fear of needles. Based on the preliminary study, the area of Bandarharjo Public Health Centre was in the lowest 3rd place related to the COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Semarang. This was due to lack of education to the community regarding the vaccination, the high resistance to vaccination due to concerns about AEFI, and so on. Health cadres are one of the main actors in the supporting the health programs in PHC, therefore the role of health cadres need to be optimized in education and management of AEFI related to COVID-19 vaccination. This community service program was carried out offline in 30 health cadres in the working area of Bandarharjo PHC. The activity began with a pre-test, continued with the presentation of the topic, discussion session, and ends with post-test. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed that there was an increase in the knowledge of cadres between before the presentation and after the presentation session. Health cadres also received booklets containing general information about COVID-18 vaccination and also related to AEFI. Booklets given to cadres not only to increase their knowledge but also can be used to educate the community. Hopefully, with the increase in knowledge and understanding of cadres, the community will be easily get the right information. The health cadres commitment to educate the community regarding COVID-19 vaccination also hoped to increase the community knowledge related to the vaccination and also the willingness of community to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, especially in the working area of Bandarharjo PHC, Semarang City, Central Java Province.

Poncol Health Center is one of the health center in Semarang City which has a high number of queues at the outpatient registration place, so this must be addressed immediately because it can affect patient satisfaction and impact the quality of health center services as well. In an effort to overcome this queuing problem, the Poncol Health Center implements the Puskesmas Tanpa Antrian Kota Semarang (PUSTAKA), namely outpatient registration via Whatsapp, SMS, or an application, that has been made by the Semarang Health Office. In its implementation, PUSTAKA has not been optimally utilized by patients, so this study aims to determine the factors which are associated with acceptance in the use of PUSTAKA program. This type of research is a quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design. The sample in the study amounted to 100 respondents who are users of PUSTAKA at Poncol Health Center. Data processing used univariate and bivariate analysis methods with the chi-square statistical test. The results of the study show that the variables which are significantly correlated to acceptance in the use of PUSTAKA program are performance expectancy (p=0,037) and effort expectancy (p= 0,015). The variable which is not significantly correlated is social influence (p= 0,434). Poncol Health Center are advised to optimizing the socialization of PUSTAKA, advise the Semarang Health Office to simplify the registration format, and provide another telephone number as an alternative for patients who have problems registering via SMS or Whatsapp
