Production of Piata grass under different phosphorus sources A B S T R A C TPhosphorus is essential for forage crops and fertilization combined with reactive and natural sources of phosphorus can increase the quality and yield of Piata grass. The objective of this study was to evaluate the production and the relationship between the components of Piata grass subjected to different combinations of reactive and rock phosphate. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in a randomized block design with seven replications. Treatments consisted of four combinations of sources and reactive phosphate rock (equivalent to 70 kg ha -1 of P 2 O 5 ): absence of phosphate fertilizer (control); fertilization with Algerian reactive rock phosphate; fertilization with 50% of Algerian reactive rock phosphate and 50% fertilization with single superphosphate and single superphosphate fertilization. The Piata grass was grown for three cuttings for characterization of dry matter production of tillers, leaves, pseudostem, relations between roots and leaf/pseudostem and shoot/root part. Phosphorus fertilization, regardless of the source, provided an increment in the production of dry matter of leaves, pseudostem and shoots of Piata grass in the second and third cuttings of evaluation and on the average, indicating increase in forage production. GROWTH OF PINEAPPLE 'VITÓRIA' IRRIGATED UNDER DIFFERENT POPULATION DENSITIES, SOURCES AND DOSES OF NITROGENABSTRACT -In order to evaluate the growth of the 'Vitória' pineapple irrigated and submitted to increase population density and doses of nitrogen in the North of the state of Minas Gerais, the experiment was set in a factorial scheme 5 x 4 x 4, corresponding to five doses of N (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 g plant -1 ), four plants populations (51,282; 76,923; 90,909 and 126,984 plants ha -1 ), and at four times of evaluation (270, 360, 450 e 540 days after planting -DAP), using urea or bovine manure as source of N. At 540 days after planting-DAP (time of flower induction), it was evaluated the effect of sources of N by means of factorial 2 x 5 x 4 that was composed of: two sources of N (urea and bovine manure), five doses of N and for plant populations as cited before. It was used a design in randomized blocks, with three replications, with Micropropagated plants of 'Vitória' cultivar. It was evaluated growth characteristics of the plant (number of emitted leaves, length and weight of the "D" leaf and stem diameter) and fruit weight with or without crown. It was not observed interaction between planting density, doses of N and days after planting (DAP). The increase in planting density decreased the diameter of the stem of the pineapple, however, did not affect the fruit weight, indicating the possibility of higher plant population for productivity increasing. The use of urea as nitrogen source promoted greater growth an...
The study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding increasing doses of nitrogen at sowing and topdressing on the agronomic characteristics of bean irrigated during winter in the northern part of Minas Gerais state. For this purpose a 4 x 4 factorial design was used consisting of four identical doses of nitrogen at sowing and topdressing (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg ha -1 ). The following characteristics were evaluated: initial stand, final stand, number of grains per pod, pods per plant, mean weight of 100 grains and grain yield. No significant effect (p > 0.05) was obtained between N rates at seeding and/or topdressing for the number of grains per pod and weight of 100 grains. Considering only the addition of N at sowing, the number of pods per plant and grain yield increased with increasing dose up to 120 kg ha -1 N. Despite the interdependence of N rates in seeding and topdressing, major increases in grain yield were obtained with the addition of N at sowing.
-In pineapple fields, weed competition is exacerbated by the fact that the crop is small and has a very slow vegetative development. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of herbicides on growth, yield and quality of pineapple, cultivar 'Pérola'. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with four treatments and four replications. Treatments consisted of weeding by hoe and the herbicides diuron; fluazifop-p-butyl and atrazine + S-metolachlor applied in post-emergence. The characteristics evaluated monthly during the vegetative stage were stem diameter, D-leaf length, number of leaves, number of emitted leaves and percentage of natural floral induction. In the reproductive phase, evaluations were made of average fruit weight (g) with and without crown, fruits length and diameter, number of slip, slip-sucker and sucker type seedlings, determination of soluble solids and pH in the pulp. There was no effect of herbicide treatment on the vegetative growth characteristics. Stem diameter increased until 330 days after planting, showing a decrease after this period. The D-leaf grew over time in all treatments, although phytotoxicity symptoms were observed after the first application of herbicides. The traits evaluated on the reproductive phase showed no significant differences in response to treatments. Therefore, the use of diuron fluazifop-p-butyl and atrazine + S-metolachlor did not affect growth, yield and fruit quality of pineapple, cultivar 'Pérola'.
