Previous studies focused on the comparison of soccer teaching methodologies in sports initiation have not obtained conclusive results about the best methodology. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to compare the effect of global and analytical training-learning methodologies on some technical fundamental skills in children of 8-9 and 10-11 years old in soccer initiation. The technical skills evaluated by the test battery of “The Soccer Star Challenge” were running with the ball, dribbling, heading and shooting the ball, in which the kids were evaluated, previously and after 40 sessions of training with each respective methodology. The results yield that both methodologies improved all the technical skills at the end of the training program. Moreover, both methods were effective, since no significant difference was found between them in the progress of the technical skills between the methodologies assessed. For the design of a training-learning program in soccer initiation, we suggest the use of activities that involved both models to develop all the players’ technical skills.
Abstract. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between body composition and physical performance in college soccer players. Twenty-six male players with an average age of 20.7 years (SD = 1.7), belonging to the representative soccer teams of two Mexican universities participated in the research. Morphological, body composition, and physical characteristics were measured for the defense, midfield, and forward positions. The level of association between variables was determined. The results show that defenders have greater body mass, humerus diameter, and hip circumference than forwards (p <. 05), whereas no differences were found in comparison to midfielders. There is no difference in players’ expression of physical abilities and percentage of fat mass by playing position (p > .05). Fat mass was directly associated with speed (.427 *, p < .05). Differences were found in bone and body mass by playing position between defenders, midfielders, and forwards. The findings hint at an influence of body composition on participants’ physical performance.
Abstract. This work aims to evidence the correlation between the level of tactical thinking of the starting level children's football players in improving technical and physical skills. Methodology: 26 eight- and nine-year-old children's football players participated with two groups: one group with numerical inequality and one with equality, both with 13 participants. The two groups were given a battery of physical and technical tests, as well as the test of tactical offensive knowledge in football (TCTOF). The groups were exposed to a 16-session training program. Results: Players at the very low level only showed changes significant negative in the correlation the flexibility and strength of the legs and pass and running of the ball in the group with numerical equality. Low-level players showed significant positive changes in correlations of flexibility and strength in legs, flexibility and heading, and heading and strength in legs. In contrast, regular-level participants (the highest in our research) produced significant positive correlations between shooting the ball with the non-dominant leg and flexibility and this same shooting the ball with the non-dominant leg with the aerobic resistance in the group with numerical equality. For its part, the group with numerical equality presented significant differences between strength and flexibility, speed and flexibility, pass the ball and flexibility, pass the ball and force in legs, pass the ball and speed, pass the ball and resistance, pass and heading the ball, shoot the ball with dominant leg and dribbling, shoot the ball with dominant leg and running with the ball, and heading the ball with shoot the ball non-dominant leg. Conclusion: there is a positive correlation between the level of tactical offensive thinking in football with the development of technical and physical skills, the higher this level, the greater significant changes in your skills.
Background: Weightlifting is a practice that exerts a high degree of pressure on the skeleton when supporting large loads of weight. The practice of exercise contributes by improving bone mineral density (BMD) and can prevent problems associated with low BMD. Objective: The objective of the present study was to determine BMD and measure bone turnover using blood markers in weightlifting athletes in response to exercise. Methods: The study included 16 athletes and 16 controls of both sexes in the range of 18 to 22 years old. BMD was determined at the femoral neck, hip, lumbar spine, and Total Mineral Density (TMD). The value of the total mineral density (TMDV) was obtained from the sum of the BMD of the evaluated regions. Bone formation and resorption in blood were evaluated by Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) and Acid Phosphatase (ACP), respectively. In addition, the concentration of urea and Creatine Kinase (CK) were determined. Results: The mean BMD of the lumbar spine and TMDV was of 1.2 g/cm2 in female and male athletes. In young people who did not practice weightlifting, BMD in the lumbar spine (0.9 g/cm2 in both groups) and TMDV (1.05 g/cm2 in women and 1.11 g/cm2 in men) were significantly lower (p <0.05). The activity in bone formation and CK in male athletes was twice as high compared to the other groups. The blood urea concentration in athletes (32.7- 38.0 mg/dL) was significantly higher (p <0.05) compared to the control groups (19.3-18.8 mg/dL). Conclusion: The practice of weightlifting benefits bone mass gain in the lumbar spine. These findings suggest that exercises in which high weight loads are supported promote bone turnover and mineralization to prevent bone weakening.
