Representações sociais de pescadores com lesão medular: repercussões e trajetória de vida

Abstract

Objective: analyze social representations in the life trajectory of artisanal fi shermen with spinal cord injury caused by diving on the north coast of Rio Grande do Norte. Method: a descriptive, qualitative study was conducted with 31 fi shermen between October 2013 and August 2014, using a semi-structured interview. A lexicographic analysis and descending hierarchical classifi cation of texts were performed (with software ALCESTE), in the perspective of the social representations. Results: social representations of fi shermen with spinal cord injury presented experiences with physical limitations and expectations regarding retirement, which appeared as a distant reality from the requirements in Brazilian labor laws. Conclusion: measures are required for the promotion, prevention and rehabilitation of the health of fi shermen with spinal cord injury, as well as safe and decent fi shing conditions, with the commitment of health authorities. Empregou-se a análise lexicográfi ca e classifi cação hierárquica descendente dos textos (software ALCESTE), sob a ótica das Representações Sociais. Resultados: as representações sociais dos pescadores com lesão medular apresentaram as experiências com as limitações físicas e expectativas de aposentadoria, estas últimas confi gurando-se como uma realidade distante das exigências impostas por nossas leis trabalhistas. Conclusão: exigem-se medidas de promoção, prevenção e reabilitação da saúde do pescador vítima de lesão medular, além de condições seguras e dignas de trabalho como compromisso das políticas de saúde. Mental health in primary health care: health-disease according to health professionals

Strenghts and Limits in the Daily Life of the Adherence to Rehabilitation of People With Spinal Cord Injury and Their Families

“…There is an urgent need for transition in the care of people with SCI "that is focused on the prevention of preventable sequelae, on follow-up in the process of rehabilitation and psychosocial care, and on greater investments in basic training and qualification of the health professionals in this field". 7 From this perspective, it appears that a successful rehabilitation contributes to physical and emotional recovery, avoids or minimizes possible complications and, consequently, reduces the number of readmissions. It is also understood that adherence to rehabilitation involves integration between people affected by SCI, their families and health professionals, especially nurses, due to their holistic ability to care, although it is poorly developed in the practice, due to lack of professional qualification in the field in Brazil.…”
