Objective: to map the literature on mental illness in the general population and in health professionals during the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: scoping review in the MEDLINE/PubMed, SCOPUS, Web of Science, PsycINFO, Science Direct databases and in the medRxiv, bioRxiv and PsyArXiv preprint servers, using the descriptors “Covid-19”, “coronavirus infection”, “coronavirus”, “2019-nCoV”, “2019 new coronavirus disease”, “SARS-CoV-2”, “health personnel”, “general public” and “mental health”. Results: 1,168 articles were found, among which 27 were analyzed. 19 (70%) dealt with the prevalence of mental illness in the general population, six (22%) in doctors and nurses, one (4%) in other health professionals and one (4%) in the general population and nurses. 19 symptoms of mental illness were identified. Conclusion: the Covid-19 pandemic triggered anxiety, depression, stress and post-traumatic stress disorders in the general population and health professionals more often. Women, students and nurses are among the most affected.
OBJETIVO: Conhecer a história de vida da mulher usuária de álcool, inserida em tratamento especializado para dependência química, auto-referida. MÉTODOS: Pesquisa qualitativa, utilizando como estratégia metodológica a "história de vida", realizada no período de maio a agosto de 2000. Participaram do estudo 13 mulheres em tratamento em ambulatório especializado de tratamento e pesquisa em álcool e drogas devido ao consumo alcoólico. Optou-se por uma abordagem focalizada/ temática do momento vivenciado pelas mulheres estudadas. Foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas e gravadas para a Análise de Conteúdo. RESULTADOS: As leituras das entrevistas transcritas permitiram identificar as seguintes categorias: 1) Trabalho e lazer antes do uso nocivo e a dependência ao álcool; 2) Perda do controle sobre a bebida e o surgimento de comprometimentos clínicos, sociais e familiares; 3) Percepção dos prejuízos e a busca de tratamento especializado; 4) Necessidade de voltar a acreditar em si mesma; 5) Acolhimento e respeito ao tratamento especializado e; 6) (Re)aprendendo a viver: lidando com a dependência. CONCLUSÕES: A mulher usuária de álcool necessita de atenção especial por parte dos profissionais de saúde e familiares, sobretudo no que se refere aos aspectos emocionais, aos comprometimentos clínicos e a promoção da auto-estima. Esse conjunto de atenções possibilitam o resgate da cidadania, objetivando melhor continuidade do processo de recuperação.
Estudo transversal que teve por objetivo entender os padrões de policonsumo simultâneo de drogas e suas implicações de gênero, sociais e legais entre estudantes universitários. Participaram 275 estudantes de Ciências da Saúde de uma universidade em Santo André, Brasil. O policonsumo foi detectado em 27,9% dos estudantes da amostra. Combinações: álcool + cannabis; álcool + medicamentos prescritos; álcool + tabaco + cannabis; tabaco + cannabis; e tabaco + medicamentos prescritos. As justificativas foram: ajudar a relaxar; perder inibições; permanecer acordado; ajudar a fazer algo que aborrece e melhorar o efeito de outras substâncias. Não se observou associação entre situações legais e sociais, os homens admitiram utilizar mais o policonsumo que as mulheres, a religião representou fator de proteção ao policonsumo, que foi inferior ao encontrado na literatura. Por se tratar de futuros profissionais de saúde, políticas institucionais devem ser discutidas no intuito de diminuir a exposição e vulnerabilidade destes às substâncias psicoativas.
Objective: to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic mobilizes masculinities in relation to mental health. Methods: qualitative study conducted with 400 men, in a virtual environment, in all regions of Brazil. The data were analyzed by the Discourse of the Collective Subject and based on Symbolic Interactionism. Results: the mobilization of masculinities emerged from men towards the recognition of weaknesses and psycho-emotional vulnerabilities, with narratives that reveal the expression of feelings, pain, discomfort and psychological suffering, and showed themselves to be sensitive and engaged in performing practices, including autonomous ones, of health care mental. Final considerations: the pandemic mobilizes masculinities as men print meanings and senses, in their interaction and interpretation of mental health, and is a marker for the nursing clinic conduct.
OBJECTIVE To verify the knowledge of Primary Care professionals about Integrative and Complementary Practices (PIC - "Práticas Integrativas e Complementares") and if they perceive these Practices as a care resource in Mental Health. METHOD Quantitative study carried out with 70 professionals from a Basic Unit of Health in the city of São Paulo between May and June of 2016. The data were collected through a questionnaire elaborated by the researchers. For statistical analysis, the frequency distribution of the variables and the Fisher test were considered. RESULTS The professionals said that they were aware of some PIC (73.9%), that users of the service with Mental Health issues would benefit from them (94.2%), that they would like to receive training (91.3%), and that they consider the practices a possible resource for care in Mental Health (92.8%). CONCLUSION The professionals' knowledge needs to be deepened. Still, they consider PIC as a resource for Mental Health in Primary Care.
OBJETIVO: a proposta deste artigo foi a de averiguar o número de graduandos de Enfermagem da Faculdade de Medicina do ABC que se apresentam com sintomas indicativos de depressão. MÉTODOS: estudo exploratório e o instrumento utilizado foi o Inventário de Depressão de Beck. A população foi constituída de 119 discentes. RESULTADOS: apontam que a população estudada merece significativa atenção uma vez que, dos 119 alunos do curso de graduação em enfermagem, 33 (26,06%) apresentaram sintomas indicativos de depressão. Estes números são importantes, pois demonstram que essa população vivencia situações conflituosas no dia-a-dia, podendo ser estas responsáveis pelo desencadeamento de sintomas indicativos de depressão. CONCLUSÃO: é de grande relevância mostrar a necessidade da criação de programas de suporte psicológico aos alunos de graduação em enfermagem de todas as séries, objetivando oferecer suporte para lidarem com as situações de sofrimento psíquico.
Objective: to map the evidence on mental health interventions implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: eight articles were selected and categorized into mental health interventions for the population, among which mental health interventions were for people diagnosed with suspicion/confirmed COVID-19 and mental health interventions for health professionals. Conclusion: telemonitoring, virtual games and strategies focused on social support and muscle relaxation techniques, characterized as non-pharmacological and low-cost, were shown as interventions, which, since they are effective, need to be encouraged and included in mental health care practices.
