ABSTRACT:The aim of this paper was to evaluate the automated acclimatization effects during pre-milking of cows on thermal conditioning, physiology, milk production and cost-benefit of the automated adiabatic evaporative cooling system (AECS). The treatments 20; 30; 40 min and control consisted of exposure time of pre-milking cows to the automated AECS. Sixteen cows were used with an average daily milk yield of 19 kg, distributed in a 4 x 4 Latin square design. The Tukey's test (P<0.05) was used to compare the means. The environmental variables, dry bulb temperature (DBT, ºC) and relative humidity (RH, %), were recorded every minute, which allowed the determination of the system efficiency through the Temperature and Humidity Index (THI). The respiratory rate (RR), rectal temperature (RT) and temperature of the coat (TC) were measured before and after the acclimatization. The 40 min treatment kept the environmental variables and the comfort indexes within recommended limits. The physiological variables (RR, RT and TC) were lower in the 40 min treatment and reflected positively on milk production, which increased 3.66% compared to the control treatment. The system was profitable, having a 43 days return on investment and a monthly revenue increase of R$ 1,992.67.KEYWORDS: thermal comfort, automation, dairy cattle, evaporative cooling system. BENEFÍCIOS DA CLIMATIZAÇÃO AUTOMATIZADA NA PRÉ-ORDENHA DE VACAS GIROLANDO EM LACTAÇÃORESUMO: Objetivou-se com esta pesquisa avaliar os efeitos da climatização na pré-ordenha sobre o acondicionamento térmico, fisiologia, produção de leite e relação custo/benefício do sistema de resfriamento adiabático evaporativo (SRAE) automatizado. Os tratamentos adotados foram os tempos de exposição dos animais ao SRAE no curral de espera, 20; 30; 40 min e o tratamentocontrole. Utilizaram-se 16 vacas com produção de 19 kg de leite dia -1 , adotando-se delineamento em quadrado latino 4 x 4 e comparação entre as médias pelo teste de Tukey (P<0,05). Foram registradas as variáveis ambientais temperatura de bulbo seco (Tbs) e umidade relativa (UR) a cada minuto, o que permitiu determinar a eficiência do sistema por meio do índice de temperatura e umidade (ITU). A frequência respiratória (FR), temperatura retal (TR) e temperatura de pelame (TP) foram medidas antes e depois da climatização. O tratamento 40 min permitiu manter as variáveis ambientais e os índices de conforto entre os limites recomendados. As variáveis fisiológicas (FR, TR e TP) mostraram valores inferiores no tratamento 40 min, com aumento de 3,66% na produção de leite, quando comparado com o controle. O investimento promoveu acréscimo na receita mensal de R$ 1.992,67 com tempo de retorno do capital de 43 dias.

RESUMO. O Brasil apresenta destaque na produção mundial de leite, ocupando a quinta posição dentre os maiores produtores. Goiás ocupa a quarta posição no ranking dos estados produtores de leite, com perspectivas de aumento ao longo dos anos. Objetivou-se com este estudo descrever os efeitos do estresse térmico na produção de vacas leiteiras. O estresse térmico influencia na produção e composição centesimal do leite, tornando fundamental o fornecimento de ambiente que proporcione o conforto térmico aos animais. As variações sazonais influenciam na qualidade e quantidade de leite produzido, sendo que animais de origem indiana (Bos indicus) são mais tolerantes ao clima tropical, quando comparado com animais de origem europeia (Bos taurus), em virtude de sua maior capacidade de transpiração e menor taxa metabólica. Contudo, é certo, a necessidade de investimentos em instalações que possibilite ambientes com condições mínimas de temperatura e umidade relativa do ar, o que favorece o aumento produtivo e a melhoria da qualidade do leite produzido. Brazil has highlighted the world's milk production, ranking fifth among the largest producers. Goiás ranks fourth in the ranking of states that produce milk with increased prospects over the years. The objective of this study describe about the effects of heat stress in the production of dairy cows. Heat stress influences the production and chemical composition of the milk, environment supply the making fundamental that provides thermal comfort to the animals. Seasonal variations influence the quality and quantity of milk produced, and animals of Indian origin (Bos indicus) are more tolerant to the tropical climate, when compared with European origin of animals (Bos taurus), because of their greater ability to sweat and lower metabolic rate. However is right, the need for investment in facilities to enable environments with minimal conditions of temperature and relative humidity, which favors the production increase and improve the quality of milk produced.

ABSTRACT:In Tropical regions, the animal performance is often affected by climate conditions. This study aimed to evaluate covering materials in individual shelters, normally used to house dairy calves, and its influence on the calves physiology and performance. The design used was completely randomized, with a 2x3 factorial arrangement to compare the averages of 5% through the Tukey's test, i.e., both genders-and three types of covering in the shelters (Z -zinc; ACasbestos cement; and WPAC -white-painted asbestos cement). Parameters evaluated included daily weight gain (DWG), dry matter intake (DMI), feed conversion (FC), rectal temperature (RT), and respiratory frequency (RF). Results showed significant differences (P < 0.05) among males (1.04kg/day) and females (0.74kg/day) for DWG and interaction between gender and treatment (P < 0.05) for zinc covering (0.562kg/day for females and 1.120kg/day for males). Significant differences were also observed in FI of animals housed under shelters with the covering of zinc (48.35kgDM/day for females and 96.91 kgDM/day for males). There were no significant differences (P > 0.05) in the FC and the RT, and there were significant differences (P < 0.05) for RF in the Z treatments (56.9 mov.min -1 ), WPAC (62.2 mov.min -1 ) and FC (70.25 mov.min -1 ). It was concluded that different covering materials did not affect performance and dry matter intake of dairy calves. However, the animals' physiology of thermoregulation was altered by the different covering materials used in individual shelters. KEYWORDS: thermoregulation, weight gain, feed conversion. AVALIAÇÃO DE MATERIAIS DE COBERTURA EM ABRIGOS INDIVIDUAIS SOBRE RESPOSTAS FISIOLÓGICAS E DESEMPENHO DE BEZERROS LEITEIROSRESUMO: Nos trópicos, o desempenho animal é prejudicado pela ação do clima. Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar materiais de cobertura em abrigos individuais sobre a fisiologia e o desempenho de bezerros leiteiros. Utilizou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, fatorial 2 X 3, para a comparação das médias ao nível de 5%, pelo teste de Tukey, ou seja, dois sexos e três tipos de coberturas (Z -zinco; CA -cimento-amianto e CAB -cimento-amianto pintado de branco). Foram medidos o ganho de peso diário (GPD), o consumo alimentar (CMS), a conversão alimentar (CA), a temperatura retal (TR) e a frequência respiratória (FR). Os resultados mostraram que houve diferença significativa (P < 0,05) entre machos (1,04 kg/dia) e fêmeas (0,74 kg/dia) para GPD, interação sexo e tratamento (P < 0,05) para a de cobertura de zinco (0,562 kg/dia para fêmeas e 1,120 kg/dia para machos), e o CMS apresentou diferença significativa para cobertura de zinco (48,35 kgMS/dia para fêmeas e 96,91 kgMS/dia para machos). Não houve diferença significativa (P > 0,05) para CA e TR e observou-se diferença significativa (P < 0,05) para FR nos tratamentos Z (56,9 mov.min -1 ), CAB (62,2 mov.min -1 ) e CA (70,25 mov.min -1 ).
