The problem of this research is that there is still a lack of application of critical literacy-based learning processes in elementary schools, especially those that raise criticism of power and injustice. The purpose of this study is to analyze the phenomenon of injustice that often occurs in the community through critical literacy education in elementary schools. The research method used is a case study which is expected to be able to reveal and describe in depth how students can interrogate texts and find sentence structures about injustice. The research subjects were grade 4 students of SDN Sukajadi 07 Bandung. The results showed that with critical literacy education, elementary school students were able to interrogate texts and contest the facts of injustice contained therein. Students are also able to associate these problems with human nature who are greedy, cheating and vile. In addition, students can also produce texts that promote social justice, hopes, important messages and solutions for a better future. This research has significance for strengthening critical pedagogy science in elementary schools
The purpose of this paper is to uncover the construction and profile of the student's fundamental educational utopian critical attitude (SKFUP) at a university. The fundamentalist critical attitude of the educational utopia is an attitude that will build optimism and hope for a complete and ideal educational system in the future. Some aspects of SKIFUP are 1) positive views on God, 2) social connectivity, 3) selfefficacy, 4) critical-reflective thinking, 5) Influencers (hardiness), 6) Endurance (foremost) and 7) creative in problem solving. This research method is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach involving a survey as a strategy of data collection carried out through a questionnaire constructed comprehensively, tested for validity and reliability. The research sample was chosen randomly involving 152 respondents of LPTK (Teacher Training Education Institution) students who came from social-humanities and vocational-science groups. The results showed that 50% of respondents had SKIFUP in the medium category, the remaining 25 were in the low category and 25% were in the highest category. Based on the building aspects of SKIFUP, the creative problem solver aspect is the lowest, and the highest is the positive view of God. There are differences in the SKIFUP profile among students from the social-humanities, scientific community and students from engineering sciences, where students from social-humanities sciences have higher average scores in most aspects of SKIFUP. The conclusion of this study is that teacher and education students need to have SKFUP so that in the future they can become educators and educational personnel who have high enthusiasm and utopia in building a better education system. It is recommended that a number of aspects and indicators that construct SKIFUP obtain appropriate educational treatment, one of which is proposed a model of critical awareness education.
Program pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keraguan yang dirasakan guru SD kota Bandung pada program Guru Pembelajar Online (GPO) yang hanya tertuju pada penguasaan materi untuk pencapaian uji kompetensi guru (UKG). Tujuan dari program ini adalah memberikan edukasi kepada guru SD kota Bandung dalam upaya membangun karakter pembelajar dengan menggunakan pendekatan pedagogik kritis. Karakter pembelajar pada program ini memiliki tiga indikator yaitu 1) kuriositas epistemik, 2) efikasi diri, 3) kesadaran kritis, 4) keterampilan dan kemandirian belajar. Metode yang digunakan pada program pengabdian ini adalah dengan pendidikan msayrakat yang dilakukan secara kolaboratif, caranya yaitu dengan menyelenggerakan workshop pendidikan dan dilanjutkan dengan pendampingan secara intensif karakter pembelajar guru sekola dasar di kota Bandung. Kegiatan workshop pendidikan dilaksanakan selama satu hari yaitu pada tanggal 09 Juli 2019 bertempat di gedung Sekolah Pascasarjana Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia dan SD di kota Bandung dengan jumlah peserta mencapai 100 orang yang terdiri dari 50 guru SD dan 50 mahasiswa jurusan ke-pendidikan. Hasil dari program pengabdian ini terbangunnya paradigma berpikir bagi peserta workshop yang terkait pada tiga hal yaitu : 1) Pentingnya praktek refleksi bagi guru; 2) paradigm belajar dalam perspektif pedagogik kritis; 3) strategi membangun karakter pembelajar. Signifikansi program pengabdian ini adalah membangun sinergi dengan kebijakan pemerintah yang menginginkan adanya peningkatan kompetensi guru sebagai pembelajar sejati yang terus belajar sepanjang hayat.
The purpose of this study is to provide an understanding of how critical literacy-based learning practices can be implemented in elementary schools by raising the issue of exploitation of nature. The practice of critical literacy-based learning in this study uses an educational model with problems whose philosophical basis derives from the critical pedagogic of Paulo Freire. The concept of education seeks to deal with humans on problematic phenomena that disturb the balance of life to be addressed critically. The phenomenon that will be sued is "massive exploitation of shark fins by humans". The research method used is qualitative with an auto-ethnographic narrative approach which aims to chronologically describe the experiences of researchers when implementing critical literacy-based learning in elementary schools. The results showed that critical literacy learning using education with problems can be implemented through three stages, namely 1) pre-reading (problematization), 2) reading stage (critical discourse discussions), and 3) post-reading stage (social action) transformative). The implication of critical literacy based learning is the rise of critical awareness of students characterized by several indicators, namely: 1) students are able to name and decipher the core of the problem of exploitation of nature and its causal relationship with greedy and vile human nature; 2) students are able to create illustrated images that represent ideal situations that should occur; 3) students are able to write critical arguments that represent suggestions, criticisms, and hopes for fishermen to be able to maintain marine ecosystems by not exploiting sharks. This research has the significance of enriching pedagogical literacy science, especially critical literacy-based learning in elementary schools.Keywords: Critical Pedagogic, Critical Literacy, Nature Exploitation, Illustration Figure. Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memberikan pemahaman tentang bagaimana praktik pembelajaran berbasis literasi kritis dapat diimplemantisakan di sekolah dasar dengan mengangkat isu eksploitasi alam. Praktik pembelajaran berbasis literasi kritis pada penelitian ini menggunakan model pendidikan hadap masalah yang dasar filosofisnya berasal dari pedagogik kritis Paulo Freire. Konsep pendidikan ini mengupayakan penghadapan manusia pada fenomena problematik yang menganggu keseimbangan kehidupan untuk disikapi secara kritis. Fenomena yang akan digugat adalah “eksploitasi sirip ikan hiu secara masif oleh manusia”. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan naratif type auto-etnografi yang bertujuan untuk menceritakan secara kronologis pengalaman peneliti ketika mengimplementasikan pembelajaran berbasis literasi kritis di sekolah dasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran literasi kritis dengan menggunakan pendidikan hadap masalah dapat diimplementasikan melalui tiga tahap yaitu 1) tahap pra-baca (problematisasi), 2) tahap membaca (diskusi-analisis wacana kritis), dan 3) tahap pasca-baca (tindakan sosial transformatif). Implikasi dari pembelajaran berbasis literasi kritis adalah bangkitnya kesadaran kritis siswa yang ditandai oleh beberapa indikator yaitu : 1) siswa mampu menamai dan mengurai inti dari problematika eksploitasi alam dan hubungan kausalitasnya dengan sifat manusia yang serakah dan keji ; 2) siswa mampu mengkreasikan gambar ilustrasi yang merepresentasikan situasi ideal yang seharusnya terjadi; 3) siswa mampu menulis karangan argumentasi kritis yang merepresentasikan saran, kritik, dan harapan pada para nelayan agar mampu menjaga ekosistem laut dengan tidak melakukan eksploitasi ikan hiu. Penelitian ini memiliki signifikansi memperkaya keilmuan pedagogik mulitiliterasi khususnya pembelajaran berbasis literasi kritis di sekolah dasar.
