Purpose: Students' learning environment and motivation are important to the students in learning. Especially with 21st century learning, students are required to be more active in learning than teachers, therefore the study aims to know if there is an influence between the learning environment and the motivation of students. Methodology: Using Mixed Methods. Where, the number of samples in the research was as many as 725 students from Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Jambi city using the purposive sampling technique. Analyzing data uses the application to obtain inferential and descriptive statistics. Finding: The results of this study are dominant in both the motivation and learning environment of students. This is strengthened by the relationship and influence between the motivation and learning environment of students that are seen from the value of Sig under 0.025, which is 0.019 and has a contribution of 70.3%. Implications and Recommendations: Based on the results obtained, the researcher recommends that students should be given an opportunity in learning, and the teacher must create a creative and innovative learning.
The negative impact of Illegal Gold Mining / IGM on the environmental sector in Batang Asai District, Sarolangun Regency, Jambi was investigated through a descriptive qualitative method. The purpose of this study was to determine the negative impact of IGM activities to several ecosystems, the effect of IGM on community activities, and some efforts to reduce IGM. The instruments of data collection included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analysed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion withdrawal. The results showed that IGM activity had a negative impact on the environment namely noise pollution, dust, degradation on the quality of Batang Asai River, forest conversion, river siltation, the emergence of large holes, overburden, soil abrasion, the disappearance of Meranti plants (Shorea sp. ) and Damar (Agathis Damara). Besides that, other impacts were the declining population of Semah Fish (Tor sp.) which had become the special characteristic of fish in the area. Some efforts were made by the government to overcome and foster IGM activities, e.g. by providing counselling and sanctions in a judicial and non-judicial manner that was carried out continuously.
Abstract Jambi has quite extensive peatlands and forests, which are around 2 million ha, so Jambi has fairly high biodiversity, including its plants. Plants in Jambi have unique historical and ecological characteristics, one of which is in the Muaro Jambi Temple area. The community uses these plants for various needs, but this knowledge is starting to disappear and be abandoned, so it needs to be studied from ethnobotany and economic perspective so that its sustainability is maintained. This study aims to determine the potential of plants in the area of Muaro Jambi Temple from ethnobotany and economic perspective. The research was conducted qualitatively with a descriptive exploratory method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The analysis was carried out descriptively. The results showed that there were 65 types of plants in the area of Muaro Jambi Temple, 3 of which were Ficus religiosa L., Oroxylum indicum (L.) Kurz, Schima wallichii Choisy, which will be studied from ethnobotany and economic perspective. Ethnobotany these plants are used for treatment, and some are used for religious rituals. From an economic point of view, it can increase people's income.
