This study aims to determine the level of validity of science literacy-oriented science teaching materials for early childhood based on the assessment of early childhood education experts, science learning experts, linguists, and graphic experts. The research method used is the research and development (R&D) method with the Four-D (4-D) model which consists of the stages of define, design, develop and desiminate. The instrument used was a validation sheet filled out by experts in their fields to test the appropriateness of content, linguistics, presentation, and graphics. Based on the results of expert validation, the developed teaching material is categorized as valid with a value of 80.4. The life of the 21st century presents its own challenges in the world of education, namely how in the learning process students are provided with skills to survive in the global world of the 21st century. The purpose of this study is to describe how well the 2nd century (4C) skills possessed by Early Childhood Education Teacher students are in case-based lectures and team based projects. The approach used in this research is quantitative and the method used is descriptive. The sample in this study were 2nd, 4th, and 6th semester students, totaling 450 students. The data collection technique is through filling out questionnaires about 4C skills which are carried out by self and peer assessment online by students. The results show that students' critical thinking and creativity are in the good category with an average critical thinking score of 83.7 and creativity of 85.4. Meanwhile, the communication (87.4) and cooperation skills (89.7) of students are in the very good category. Case-Method and team-based projects learning can help develop 4C skills as 21st century skills.Keywords: 21st century learning, critical thingking, creativity, communication, collaboration, 4C skills
This study aims to develop a TPACK-based Inquiry Learning Model in developing skills, critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, and collaboration (4 C) for Early Childhood. This research is a type of research and development (Research and Development) by following the Borg and Gall development model which consists of 10 steps and will be grouped into 4 stages, namely, the preliminary stage, planning and development, evaluation and revision, and dissemination. The instrument used is a validation sheet to test the feasibility of the model by Education Technology experts, a response sheet filled in by the teacher, and an observation sheet to see the 4 C skills of Early Childhood. The model trial was conducted at TK ABA 05 Medan. The results of the expert assessment of the model are in the very high category, namely 87%, meaning that the learning model is feasible to be applied. The results of the first-stage model trial on 5 children showed that there was an effect of 40%.
Peneltian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh penggunaan modul digital interaktif terhadap aktivitas belajar mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu yang dilakukan pada mahasiswa PG PAUD FIP Unimed semester ganjil Tahun Akademik 2021/2022. Sampel penlitian ini berjumlah 70 orang mahasiswa yang terdiri atas tiga kelas yang diajar dengan menggunakan modul digital interaktif. Data dianalisis secara persentasi dan divisualisasikan melalui grafik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan modul digital interaktif yang dimulai pertemuan kelima sampai pertemuan ketiga belas dapat meningkatkan aktivitas belajar mahasiswa.
Students’ Habits Of Mind Profiles Of Teacher Education For Early Childhood Education At Universitas Negeri Medan. The objective of this research is to describe the habits of mind of PG PAUD FIP UNIMED students. The results of this study are expected to provide an overview of the habits of mind of PG PAUD FIP UNIMED students. This type of research is descriptive research because it reveals the situation as it is. This research was conducted by providing a questionnaire about habits of mind in the 5th semester of the Early Childhood Creativity Development Method subject to see the profile of students' habits of minds. In this research, the aspects of habits of mind that are seen are self regulation, critical thinking, and creative thinking. The background of the study comes from the low ability of teachers in designing scientific-based learning implementation plan (RPPH) for the Scientific and Local Culture subject and carrying out the authentic assessment for early childhood education (PAUD) students. These activities aim to assist teachers developing Weekly Implementation Plan (RPPM) and RPPH on the aforementioned subject as well as to help teachers developing the authentic assessment instruments in measuring early child development outcomes. The activities were conducted in the Ananda Kindergarten and Early Childhood Education (School Partners) in the Sub-District of Gebang at the District of Langkat from July to September 2017. The participants were teachers in the Partner School and PAUD teachers around the School of Partners, amounting 20 teachers using discussion, questioning, group work and assignment as well as the monitoring and evaluation approaches. The results of the mentoring activities showed that: 1) Most teachers were able to develop RPPM and RPPH based on Scientific and Local Culture, and only a few teachers with senior secondary education background had difficulty in preparing the RPPH according to the guidelines; 2) Most teachers experienced difficulties in developing authentic assessment instruments, 3) Teachers of PAUD were enthusiast engaging in the mentoring activities validated by their presences and activities during processes. The results of these activities recommend that: 1) Do consistent and continuous monitoring of the implementation of learning in accordance with the lesson plans that have been prepared; 2) the need for special teacher assistance in the development of authentic assessment instruments for early childhood; 3) The need for special assistance in development and preparation of media and educational game tools in accordance with the needs of early childhood. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D), which was conducted at two PAUD (kindergarten) institutions in the city of Medan. Trial 1 was conducted on 5 children, the results of 60% of children who have Intelligence Developed in Accordance with Expectations (BSH) increased to 80%. Likewise, what was done in the pilot phase 2 model of 15 children, out of 46% of children who had the Intelligence Developed in Accordance with Expectations (BSH) increased to 80%. The results of this study concluded that contextual learning is effective in increasing the plural intelligence of early childhood / kindergarten.
