Background: Pseudoaneurysms are usually post-traumatic, iatrogenic, in intravenous drug abusers or due to anastomotic disruption. Pseudoaneurysms continue to be a clinical challenge in recent time.Patients and Methods: In this retrospective study of 10 years, consisting of 60 cases, we aim to document and evaluate the causes, presentation and treatment modalities. Results: All patients underwent surgical intervention. There was no mortality and minimal morbidity. Conclusions: The repair by Saphenous venous interpositional graft is the key to successful management of post-traumatic peripheral arterial pseudoaneurysm. Baseline nutritional deficiencies negatively influence the outcome and occurrence of complications during induction chemotherapy in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
The influence of the administration of thiamine (vitamin B1), ascorbic acid (vitamin C) or their combination on the efficacy of two thiol metal chelators, viz. alpha-mercapto-beta-(2-furyl) acrylic acid (MFA) and 2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMS), in counteracting lead (Pb) toxicity was investigated in rats. Ascorbic acid or its combination with thiamine enhanced the urinary elimination of Pb, reduced the hepatic and renal burden of Pb, and reversed the Pb-induced inhibition of the activity of blood delta-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (delta-ALA-D). All these effects were more evident in DMS- than in MFA-treated rats. The combination of MFA and DMS treatments further improved the performance of the animals in enhancing urinary Pb excretion and in reducing Pb hepatic levels.
Key Points• Children with PCNSL and no immunodeficiency have a good outcome when treated by a histological subtype-driven and radiation-free protocol.• New treatment guidelines are needed for PCNSL in children and adolescents with an underlying immunodeficiency.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
