ABSTRACT. The purpose of this mixed methods study, within the altruistic, intrinsic, or extrinsic motives framework, was conducted in order to document the motives of English as a foreign language (EFL) student teachers to become a teacher by choosing a teacher education program at one public university in Jambi, Sumatra, Indonesia. A sample of 285 student teachers who were enrolled at EFL teacher education program at one public university in Jambi, Sumatra, Indonesia was investigated. Data were collected through a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The frequency of each statement was computed and expressed as percentage of its total score and all of the interview data were audiotaped, transcribed verbatim, and carefully analysed. The findings of this study revealed that the Indonesian EFL student teachers' interpretations of their motives for embarking on a journey to become a teacher were various and unique. Although, altruistic motives seemed to be predominant, the kinds of motives on their career choice were likely to involve an interaction among altruistic, intrinsic, and extrinsic motives across participants quantitatively and qualitatively. Implications policies to create good standards of teacher education programs in order to attract and recruit quality student teachers should be made before, during, and after entering the program. Understanding student teachers' initial motives or reasons to become a teacher by entering a teacher education program is necessary as a foundation to develop teacher education policies and programs intended to increase the quality of teachers and teaching practices. Information on their motives is very important for teaching institutions to obtain in order to help prepare the quality student teachers during their education and training, to train them with better skill, knowledge, and attitude, and to socialize them with the teachers' roles so that they will take teaching as a more challenging and rewarding profession. However, much of the research is from developed countries and schooling there differs in many significant respects from Indonesia, including governance, financing, and policies on curriculum and assessment while research on student teachers' motives to enter the teacher profession in Indonesia is still rare. Abstrak. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Subjek penelitiannya adalah siswa kelas X MIA SMA 2 Kota Jambi. Data hasil validasi ahli dan tanggapan siswa serta guru mata pelajaran biologi sebagai pengguna akan dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif, dimana data diperoleh dari angket.Proses validasi telah dilakukan baik oleh validasi ahli materi maupun validasi ahli media. Hasil akhir untuk validasi ahli materi memperoleh persentase 70,4% termasuk dalam kategori “baik”, sedangkan untuk hasil akhir untuk validasi ahli media memperoleh persentase 71% termasuk dalam kategori “baik”. Kemudian hasil yang diperoleh untuk persepsi guru mata pelajaran biologi memperoleh skor 86% termasuk dalam kategori “sangat baik” dan untuk ujicoba kelompok kecil memperoleh persentase 90% termasuk kategori “sangat baik”. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh baik dari validasi tim ahli, persepsi guru dan respon siswa, maka LKPD bermuatan pendidikan karakter dianggap layak dari segi kualitas materi dan media.Dengan demikian, LKPD bermuatan pendidikan karakter yang telah dikembangkan dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran di SMA Negeri 2 Kota Jambi kelas X pada materi Bakteri.

ABSTRACT. This research purpose is to develop multimedia learning in plant tissue isolation method. This kind of research is development research which using ADDIE development model. Before trials, this multimedia has been validated by media and material expert. Multimedia learning trials to a small group in 3 classes in SMA N 1 Kota Jambi. The media validation result, conducted in 2 stages with the final score 96% with it means very good category. The material validation result conducted in 3 stages with the final result 80% which is very good category. The result of small group trials XII MIA 1 the result is 92% , in XII MIA 2 the result is 92%, in XII MIA 4 the result is 91,33% with very good Category. Over all the conclusion is tthe development of multimedia is very good category, interesting and enable to use as multimedia learning of plant tissue isolation method . Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran secara objektif bagaimana motivasi belajar peserta didik pada pembelajaran daring selama masa Pandemi Covid-19, sehingga menjadi bahan evaluasi dalam menciptakan pembelajaran daring yang efektif ditengah Pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan metode survey. Data berasal dari pengisian kuisoner menggunakan google form agar mudah diakses oleh peserta didik. Responden adalah 110 orang peserta didik SMA N 8 Kota Jambi kelas XI IPA 1, XI IPA 2, XI IPA 3, XI IPA 4, XI IPA 5 dan XI IPA 6, semester satu Tahun Ajaran 2020/2021.Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah menghitung presentase dari setiap indikator, kemudian menginterpretasi skor presentasi dan menganalisis setiap indikatornya secara mendalam. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, didapatkan presentase rata-rata motivasi belajar dari 7 indikator yaitu rasa ingin tahu, kemandirian, kesiapan, antusias atau dorongan, pantang menyerah dan percaya diri sebesar 74.9% dengan kriteria baik. Hasil Temuan dari Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun dilanda pandemic Covid-19, motivasi belajar peserta didik SMA berada pada kriteria baik. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan evaluasi dalam menciptakan pembelajaran daring yang efektif ditengah Pandemi Covid-19.
