Summary. It is acknowledged within didactics of science that knowledge about the nature of science is one of the fundamental components of general scientific literacy. This fact generates the need to introduce the philosophy of science in pre-and in-service science teacher education. In this paper, we present a conceptual framework that may result in theoretical criteria to select contents from the philosophy of science. This framework is used to analyse several proposals to teach the philosophy of science to science teachers.
Summary. In this paper we are presenting an analysis of teacher discourse from a multimodal communication perspective, in a secondary school science class about the «water cycle». This approach implies the consideration that every communication system (oral and written language, visual language and gesture) contributes to give meaning to the concept of water cycle in a cooperative or specialised way. The theoretical basis and methodology used for the analysis are presented. Later, the results are discussed and suggestions are presented for the purpose of discovering the communicative resources available to the teacher in the classroom.
The purpose of this article is to show that the design of school experiments should undergo a complete change so that scientific experimentation should still be a priority in science teaching. We propose a design for a new type of experiment, «initiation practice», based on the concept of «didactic transposition» and on a cognitive model of school science. Through this new type of practice an attempt is made to assist the pupils in the relation between phenomena and scientific theories
