-Aiming to evaluate the effect of tomato waste inclusion on productive performance and characteristics of carcass and main broiler chicken cuts, an experiment was carried out using 300 male Cobb chicks, distributed in a complete randomized design, with five rations and five replicates. Diets consisted of control ration based on corn and soybean meal and four rations with 5, 10, 15 and 20% of tomato waste. Feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion and, at the end of experiment, slaughter weight, gutted carcass without feet and head, breast, drumstick, thigh, wing, back, edible guts and belly fat were evaluated every week, as well as it was the yield. Tomato waste increased feed intake in the periods from 1 to 7, 8 to 14 and 29 to 36 days of age and worsened gain weight and feed conversion of broiler chickens up to 29 days of age.Regarding carcass weight (g) and weight of the noble parts, breast, drumstick and thighs decreased linearly in function of the use of tomato waste in poultry on pre-initial and initial phase, that is, up to 28 days old, but yield (%) was not affected except for yield of heart and liver. Use of tomato waste in ration of broiler chickens during the period from 1 to 28 days may decrease weight gain and worsen food conversion. Tomato waste may be used as ration ingredient in ration of broiler chicken in the breeding period from 29 to 42 days of age up to the level of 20% without harming weight gain and feed conversion of poultry.
Palavras-chave: alimentação alternativa, aves, desempenho, rendimento de carcaça, resíduo de abatedouro Total replacement of corn by sorghum and slaughterhouse poultry oil in broiler dietsABSTRACT -This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of total replacement of corn by sorghum and crecent levels of slaugherhouse poultry oil (PO) on performance and carcass characteristics and yield of broilers. A total of 260 chicks one day-old, males, Cobb strain, was allotted to the following treatments: a corn based reference ration, and four sorghum based diets with the inclusion levels of 0, 2.5, 5, and 7.5% of PO according to the growing phases (from 1 to 7 days, 8 to 21 days, 22 to 33 days and 34 to 42 days). The experimental desing was in radomized blocks, with two blocks, where the parameter for blocks was the sense of the hangar, two replicates per block, with 13 birds per pen and five treatments. The inclusion of PO in the sorghum based diet linearly increased feed intake (FI), except during the first phase, and showed a linear effect on weight gain, that increased in the phases from 1 to 7 days, 22 to 33 days, and 1 to 42 days. ...
Effects physical forms; and feedings programs pré-starter phase in performance and carcass characteristics broiler chicks. The objective work was to evaluate the effect physical forms and feedings programs pre-starter phase in performance and carcass characteristics on broiler chicks. Two hundred eighty eight broiler chick, were a randomized arrangement 2x3, two physical forms (crumb and mash) and three feedings programs prestarter (P1-100g/bird, P2-200g/bird and P3-300g/bird) with four replicate and 12 unit.In the phase from 1 to 7 days significant it had differences between the treatments for weight gain (WG) and feed conversion (FC). In the phases from 1 to 14, 1 to 21 and 1 to 28 days, the better results of feel intake (FI), crude protein (CP) and metabolizable energy (ME), were obtained the programs P1, to FC the P2 and P3; in the phase from 1 to 35 days there to FI. No significant difference were observed better treatments for IP, carcass characteristics and viability in all work phase. The diet pre-starter crumb provided improvement in the WG and FC in the period until 7 days.
Palavras-chave: cálcio, disponibilidade, enzima, fitato, fósforo Use of Phytase in Diets with or without Defatted Rice Bran for Growing/Finishing PigsABSTRACT -The objective of this work was to compare the efficiency of different levels of phytase with the use of inorganic phosphate (dicalcium phosphate) when added to diets with or without defatted rice bran (DRB). One hundred and twenty eight pigs with average initial weight of 21.6 ± 2.4 kg were housed in collective boxes for the pig performance evaluation in the growing and finishing phase. The pigs were slaughtered with an average weight of 95.42 ± 5.3 kg and the metacarpus bones were collected to determine the calcium and phosphorus content. Eight treatments were used with four diets being formulated without DRB (cornsoybean meal) and the other four diets with DRB. The phytase levels added in the diets were 0, 750 or 1000 PU/kg of the diet. It was observed that adding phytase in diets without and with DRB improved the availability of the organic phosphorus. The addition of phytase at levels of 750 or 1000 PU/kg, with or without DRB in the diet, allows the withdraw of the inorganic phosphorus source from diet if considering pig performance. However, the bone characteristics are affected when the diets with phytase were not supplemented with a source of inorganic phosphorus. .
Two experiments were conducted, the first being the digestibility of feed and the second performance in an attempt to evaluate the residue of pineapple bran in diets for Nile tilapia. Eighty animals weighing 63.9 ± 0.79 g in a completely randomized design were used to test the digestibility in order to evaluate the apparent digestibility of dry matter, crude protein, gross energy, digestible energy and digestible protein. In the performance of 240 juveniles were distributed in three ranges of weights: 34.9 ± 0.06, 44.4 ± 0.27 and 55.5 ± 0.10 g, in order to evaluate performance, yield Housing and somatic indices of Nile tilapia. The design was a randomized block with three blocks, with four treatments and five repetitions, rations in both experiments contained four levels of inclusion of pineapple bran residue (0, 5, 10 and 15%). The digestibility of the diets were:
