Palavras chave: sorgo, enzimas, frango de corte, desempenho.ABSTRACT -The present experiment was carried out at the Federal University of Paraná Experimental Station of Canguiri between 10/15/1997 and 12/04/1997. The main aim of the experiment was to evaluate the effect of sorghun as a substitute of corn on the mean weight gain of chicken. The experiment was carried out with addition of digestive enzymes. The chicken were raised in 3 feeding phases: 0-21 days (initial phase), 22-42 days (growing phase) and 43-49 days (final phase). Four levels of sorghun -0, 15, 30 and 45 % -were used in order to substitute corn in the diet, with the addition of 3 levels of digestive enzymes (0, 750 and 1500 g E/per ton of ration. The experiment was carried out with a total of 3 repetitions of each treatment following a total casually experimental delineation. On the 21 st day it has been found that the main weight gain of the chickens fed with 45% of sorghun was superior than the gain weight found for the chickens fed during 30 days with the ration containing 15% of sorghun. As for the 3 levels of enzymes used, no difference has been found in the weight gain in regard to the diet without sorghun. the results on days 42 and 49 were not consistent with the experimental results of the first phases, but sorghun did not show any negative effect , considering that the results thus obtained were similar to the ones obtained with only corn containing rations. Another important observation is that up to the level of substitution of 45% sorghun did not interfere with the chicken weight gain. This observation allows the conclusion that digestive enzymes addition the diet did not influence the gain weight.
ABSTRACT -The main aim of the present experiment was to carry on an evaluation of the performance of pigs using antibiotic or probiotic either isolated or in association. The experiment took place at the UFPR pig farm , Pinhais, Pr. A total of 112 crossbreed Landrace x Large White pigs were used in the experiment. The animals were distributed in casual blocks according to the experimental outline with seven repetitions for each treatment. The tested probiotic contained 5 x10 viable spores of Bacillus toyoi per gram. The rations contained 3,350 Kcal/EM/kg; 21.8, 20% of raw protein and 0.2 and 0.1 % of inclusion of the probiotic in the preinitial and initial rations, respectively. The treatments were as follows: T1 of soy and corn (basal) ; T2 -basal + probiotic; T3 -basal + antibiotic ; T4 -basal + probiotic + antibiotic. At each treatment and its factorial interactions the following parameters were then considered: weight at the weaning and at 37, 51 and 63 days of age; rations consumption (CR); daily wining of weight (GPD); and alimentary conversion (CA). The data obtained were then analyzed by SAEG and the averages compared by Newman Keuls, at 5%. The weights at 51 and 63 days and the GPD were superiors for T3 and T4. Alimentary conversion -CA -showed to be superior for T4. The addition or not of probiotic did not show weight improvement for none of the variables. Pig weights at 51 and 63 days, GPD, CR and CA values were positively influenced by the addition of antibiotic to the ration. Compared to the antibiotic, the use of probiotic wo...
-The effect of quantitative feed restriction upon the performance and carcass characteristics of the finished pigs was investigated. It was observed a linear reduction in the daily weight gain and backfat and linear increasing in the slaughtery age (P<0,05). The carcass weight and profit were affected in a quadratic way.
Abstract A total of 1280 broilers were used in the present experiment, with the objective to study the possibility of using yeast as substitute of antibiotics, in order to control intestinal microorganisms and as growth promoter. A ration containing corn, soybean and meat floor was freely supplied to the broilers. The experiment was delineated as completely casual in a factorial arrangement of 4 X 2 (levels of yeast addition: 0, 0.15, 0.45 and 0.60 %) with and without antibiotics. The results showed that yeast could substitute antibiotics used in broilers ration at a level of efficiency identical to that of the antibiotics in terms of weight gain, food consumption, food conversion and productive efficiency index.
