Malang is one of the largest sugarcane plantations in Java in the colonial ruler. Several factors that support this success was soil fertility, supply of water, and infrastructure. Although this area has two kinds of topography namely lowland and hills but the colonial still able to manage these regions as one of the best sugarcane producers. The challenge is to be solved by developing the two different irrigation namely irrigation systems romeijn and syphon. These systems that supports Malang as one of the center of sugarcane in Java. In recent days, this infrastructure still can be witnessed, but unfortunately it is not many people are aware of the existence and function syphon that extends above the Metro river, Kepanjen. Therefore, this article try to discuss about the history of syphon metro Kepanjen and its function. Then, offer an outdoor learning scheme by using the site for the students Department of History. This was undertaken with the aim disseminate history of syphon to the community so that they have sense of belonging to preserve this site and took a very important lesson to the existence of the site.
This article outlines heuristics in more detail, ranging from understanding, prerequisites for being able to perform heuristics well, concrete steps in implementing heuristics and how they are applied in historical research. This description will provide a real knowledge and picture of how one performs heuristics in the context of historical methods in the digital age. In particular, this paper is very useful for students who pursue the field of history and for beginners and fans of the field of history. Heuristics are the initial stage in the historical method, but their implementation will continue to be integrated with the next stage. Heuristics cease to be performed when historiography is declared complete by the author.
Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk mengembangkan motif batik khas Desa Kidal untuk pemberdayaan masyarakat. Metode pengembangan yang dilakukan meliputi observasi, eksplorasi ide, perancangan dan perwujudan karya. Mitra yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini adalah pemerintah Desa Kidal, PKK Desa Kidal, Karang Taruna Garudeya, dan Koperasi Wanita (Kopwan) Melati.. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah adanya lima motif batik khas Desa Kidal yaitu Garudeya, ayam, pelipit kakaktua, tumpal, dan lidah api. Motif tersebut diaplikasikan dalam bentuk canting cap batik. Adanya motif dan canting cap batik memberdayakan 28 perempuan Desa Kidal yang merupakan bagian dari kelompok mitra sehingga mereka bisa mengembangkan produksi batik yang bernilai ekonomi.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um032v1i12018p030
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the tourism sector. Tourism businesses must adapt to new conditions and rearrange their promotional strategies so that they can survive in the new normal era. Since the pandemic started spreading in early 2020, the Government has recommended a new promotional initiative for the tourism sector through the use of technology that can be accessed remotely via the internet. One of these approaches is the presentation of virtual tourism in various ways to strengthen the brand and promote tourism, for example, through virtual reality. The aim of this research was to increase tourist visits to Kajoetangan Heritage Village through applying technology to create a virtual tourism portal application, thereby raising the attractiveness of thematic village tourist destinations in Malang City. Using the virtual reality design as a form of marketing communication could be an alternative solution to tourism promotion during the pandemic. A Research and Development approach was used in this study in the following order: (1) conducting product analysis to be developed; (2) developing initial products; (3) expert validation and revision; (4) small-scale field trials and product revisions; (5) field trials and final product. The results from the field test showed that users can gain awareness about tourism activities through this virtual reality product, which can therefore be effective in supporting tourism promotion during the pandemic period. Kajoetangan or Kayutangan kampong heritage is a new tourist spot in Malang that emphasizes the empowerment of local communities in realizing settlement-based sustainable tourism that existed during the colonial era which was composed of dozens of Indische architecture in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. Kayutangan heritage villages are composed of settlements with a small size with access in the form of a small footpath combined with a mural and various outdoor plants. The houses in the area have not changed for nearly a hundred years, which have been passed down from generation to generation. Descriptive qualitative method is used in this research by combining the data obtained based on in-depth interviews, survey and combined with literature studies. Purpose of this research is to explore historical sequences and processes of sustainable tourism management controlled by local residents with financial assistance from various partners. The results of the study show that the role of local communities is quite positive in efforts to support tourists either by being directly or indirectly involved by building supporting facilities for core tourism such as culinary spots and souvenirs. Collaboration with several government agencies, universities and banks also makes the additions and directions in making and using additional facilities more structured.
Migration is an ancient phenomenon that has occurred since the prehistoric era with the greatest motivation to fulfill primary, secondary, and tertiary needs. One of the impact of the phenomenon is socio-economic not only in the region of destination but also the abandoned territory. Malang Tenggara is one of the regions experiencing the dynamics of migration phenomena from the 19th century to the present. This research seeks to analyze the socio-economic impact of the in-out migrations occurring in the southeastern Malang in the 19-20 century. The analysis of data on this research uses descriptive historical analysis. The results showed some findings such as; among the 19th century Southeastern Malang is known as non-migration area but this condition changed since the second half of the 20th century, there were changes in ethnic composition in southeastern Malang since the 19th century, in-out migration both 19th century and 20 lead to the change of socio-economic life. The conclusion of this research shows that the differences in and out of migration levels in southeastern Malang become an indicator of weak and strong community ability in the optimization of physical and environmental capital.
Lack of research development on history and local wisdom studies of Malang and its integration in learning acitivities is the background of the development of Projo Bale model. Local history is full of relevant local wisdom values to be implanted in learners. The history department as the institution that produce history teachers should teach students with knowledge about local history at least the area of Malang. This Model was compiled in response to the problem. The collaboration between Outdoor Learning and Project Based Learning models with Android app based is a creative effort to leverage technology in historical learning innovations. The stages in this development include 5 phases ranging from analysis, development, design, implementation and evaluation. In the final stage of the evaluation of the model post implementation reached an average figure of 82.75% indicating this model is viable and effective as an innovative model in the study of history.
