Kajoetangan or Kayutangan kampong heritage is a new tourist spot in Malang that emphasizes the empowerment of local communities in realizing settlement-based sustainable tourism that existed during the colonial era which was composed of dozens of Indische architecture in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. Kayutangan heritage villages are composed of settlements with a small size with access in the form of a small footpath combined with a mural and various outdoor plants. The houses in the area have not changed for nearly a hundred years, which have been passed down from generation to generation. Descriptive qualitative method is used in this research by combining the data obtained based on in-depth interviews, survey and combined with literature studies. Purpose of this research is to explore historical sequences and processes of sustainable tourism management controlled by local residents with financial assistance from various partners. The results of the study show that the role of local communities is quite positive in efforts to support tourists either by being directly or indirectly involved by building supporting facilities for core tourism such as culinary spots and souvenirs. Collaboration with several government agencies, universities and banks also makes the additions and directions in making and using additional facilities more structured.
The purpose of this design is inspiring teenagers to be proud to wear Javanese appearance and interest in Javanese philosophical values. In order for the character can be accepted and imitate by teenagers, the clothes and attributes of the character must be in a modern shape and they can wear in daily lives. To achieve that, the Javanese philosophy of the character must be transformed into contemporary shape. The transformation method uses the Atumics method which can combine elements of traditional culture with elements of contemporary culture at the level of concepts and visuals. Its hope can be a trigger for young people to wear it first and then found out the Javanese philosophy on objects that they wear. To represent Javanese values in character design, this character is made in endomorph type because there is a philosophy that Javanese is descendant of Semar. But it turns out dislike by teenager. Recommendation to explore the endomorph type to be liked.
Artwork is an embodiment of the artistic value, so that the object can emit the observer’s feelings. The purpose of this study is to find out the artistic background of Gatot Pujiarto, the values contained in the work 'Paranoid', and to find out the reasons that cause 'Paranoid' to bring out certain feelings. The researcher chose to use descriptive qualitative research and a holistic approach in order to achieve more concrete results by considering the three main components of the artwork. Namely works of art, artists, and observers. The results of this study are: (1) Gatot Pujiarto has been in the art field since childhood and has received a lot of support from his family and relatives, (2) the painting 'Paranoid' contains social values because the theme it brings is about the condition of society when facing a pandemic. COVID-19, and (3) every component in the painting 'Paranoid' plays a role in causing a feeling of tightness and chaos. Among them are the choice of colors that are low in saturation, the size of the work is quite large, as well as scattered threads and fabrics. Even though the work 'Paranoid' gives rise to multiple interpretations in each of its components, in general the work carries a message about the crowded situation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui latarbelakang berkesenian Gatot Pujiarto, nilai-nilai yang terkandung pada karya ‘Paranoid’, serta mengetahui alasan yang menyebabkan ‘Paranoid’ dapat memunculkan perasaan tertentu pada penghayat. Peneliti memilih untuk menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dan pendekatan holistik demi mencapai hasil yang semakin konkrit dengan mempertimbangkan ketiga komponen utama karya seni. Yaitu karya seni, seniman, dan penghayat. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) Gatot Pujiarto sudah berkecimpung pada bidang seni sejak kecil dan banyak mendapatkan dukungan dari keluarga dan kerabatnya, (2) lukisan ‘Paranoid’ mengandung nilai-nilai sosial karena tema yang dibawa adalah mengenai kondisi masyarakat saat menghadapi pandemi COVID-19, dan (3) setiap komponen pada lukisan ‘Paranoid’ berperan dalam menimbulkan rasa sesak dan kalut. Diantaranya adalah pilihan warna yang bersaturasi rendah, ukuran karya yang cukup besar, serta benang dan kain yang berserakan, Meskipun karya ‘Paranoid’ menimbulkan multitafsir pada tiap komponennya, akan tetapi secara garis besar karya tersebut mengusung pesan mengenai keadaan sesak kala pandemi COVID-19 berlangsung. The occurrence of claiming the cultural results of one country makes other countries unwilling to release because they feel that the culture that other countries claim belongs to them. This condition causes the relationship between the two countries to be less harmonious. If viewed from the Malayan's history, the two countries have the same family culture, namely the Malayan culture. This culture can be used to explore and produce a new Malayan culture, one of which is the batik, which is characterized by a Malayan family culture. "Batik Serumpun Melayu". Data were collected through observations in several cities in the Sumatera region to Kuala Lumpur to produce the "Batik Serumpun Melayu". The interviews were conducted with resource persons who knew the Malayan culture, as well as document data in the form of artifacts from past Malayan culture to strengthen the data. Through this research, data objects are used as a source of ideas in the creation of "Batik Serumpun Melayu". Through the acculturation approach of Indonesian-Malaysian culture, a creative process of Design Thinking from Plattner, Meinel & Weinberg in the form of understanding, observe, point of view, ideate, prototype, and test to produce the batik "Relung Mekar Melayu" which has had Intellectual Property Right (HKI). It is hoped that the batik's invention is expected to unite the Malayan culture, which means to unite the Indonesian-Malaysian culture in the batik "Relung Mekar Melayu" which is shared, worked together and developed together.
Ngopi culture of the Indonesian people today will proliferate services that provide various types of coffee drinks and comfortable and aesthetically pleasing seats. One of the cafes that provide this service is Noch Kafe, located in Malang City. This study aims to determine the visual elements of the interior at Noch Kafe and to determine the visitor's response to the visual elements of the interior. The study was conducted using qualitative methods to analyze descriptive data and images, and quantitative methods of percentages to analyze visitor response data. Descriptive data were obtained through interviews, documentation, and observation, while the response data were obtained through questionnaires. The results showed that the visual elements of the interior have a Scandinavian style with a blend of modern styles and are adapted to the climatic conditions and Indonesian culture. Space-forming elements are made simple and function properly. These can be seen through application of wood materials and the choice of white color on the walls. In addition, the form adapts to climatic conditions, as seen in glass ceilings and walls. Furniture is also made of wood and is simple in shape and according to its function. The results of visitors' responses to visual elements influenced by personal experience show a good or excellent response to most of the visual elements. However, the survey results also concludes that visitors are disfavored with the shape of the table, the shape of the shelves, the night lighting on the terrace area, and the photo or picture decoration.
