Objective: to describe the perception of hospitalized children of school age, on nursing care and understand what are, from their perspective, the best ways to address it to when performing such care. Method: qualitative, descriptive, exploratory research, with concepts of Vygotsky used as theoretical framework. The data collection occurred through interviews mediated by drawings and was performed with ten school children, with the interview later transcribed and submitted to a thematic analysis. Results: showed the importance of playing during hospitalization, of a friendly and caring approach and providing explanations regarding the performed procedures. Conclusion: nursing professionals need to consider how the children would like to receive the care being provided, so that their singularities are respected, characterizing nursing actions according to a perspective of the whole human being. Aim:To describe the benefits of using ludicity during care practices for hospitalised children with cancer, according to the perceptions of the nursing team. Method: This is a qualitative, descriptive research, carried out with the help of a nursing team in a paediatric inpatient ward for children with cancer. The collection of data was performed using non-participative observations and semi-structured interviews. The data was treated using thematic analysis. Results: The benefits of ludicity include, better adherence to treatment, improvements in relationships between the nursing team and the child, and improvements in the acceptance of caring proceedings. Discussion: According to the perception of the professionals, ludicity facilitates the process of adapting the child to hospital, and improves the relationship between the child and the nursing team. Objective: To understand the meaning attributed by undergraduate nursing students to the teaching and practice of Therapeutic Play (TP) in the Undergraduate Program in Nursing. Methods: A qualitative research project held using Symbolic Interactionism.Participants were 17 nursing students from a public university. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed by Conventional Qualitative Content Analysis. Results: Our results allowed us to understand the meaning attributed by the nursing student to the teaching of TP on the undergraduate program -it is a necessary and important intervention to promote quality and humane nursing care; therefore, its teaching must be ensured for undergraduate students. Objective: To understand the meaning of playing for the hospitalized child under precaution. Method: Qualitative research, where Symbolic Interactionism is the theoretical framework and Qualitative Content Analysis is the methodological one. It was attended by eight children aged between 5 and 10. Data were collected through participant observation of playful activities developed with the child by a nurse-researcher and semi-structured interviews mediated by story-drawing with theme. Results: Data showed the evolution of the interactions among toy, researcher and child; their rapid acceptance to get involved in playing; the way they explore the toys; the desire to free themselves from confinement; the relief of stress, the mastery of the situation and the protagonism enabled by the playing; the way they outline the hospital and the importance of having someone to play. Final considerations: Nurses should use creativity, seeking strategies that allow the child to play in this environment full of restrictions.
Aims: to identify the reactions of relatives after a diagnosis of pediatric cancer; to describe the work of the nursing team based on these reactions; to analyze the expectation of the family regarding nursing care based on the diagnosis of pediatric cancer. Method: this is a qualitative, descriptive research performed in an onco-hematologic ward located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For data collection, semi-structured interviews were used. Results: this study generated some thematic units: the reactions of relatives based on the diagnosis of pediatric cancer; the work of the nursing team based on the reactions of the family of the child with the diagnosis of cancer; expectation of the relatives regarding the work of the nursing team on the relatives of the child with cancer. Discussion: relatives have feelings such as despair, fear of death, guilt, revolt and denial, making it necessary to include the relatives in nursing care procedures. Conclusion: to provide for the necessities of the relatives, caring must provide comfort, support, and a clear communication about the illness, in order to minimize their suffering.
O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever a visão dos familiares quanto às orientações realizadas junto às crianças em idade escolar em tratamento quimioterápico antineoplásico, e discutir as estratégias para orientação junto a essas crianças. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo descritivo, com entrevistas semiestruturadas em 10 familiares de crianças em tratamento quimioterápico, num hospital público do Rio de Janeiro, no período de março de 2013 a junho de 2014, por análise temática das informações. Os dados mostraram que a maioria das crianças inicia o tratamento quimioterápico sem receber orientação e que a família é a principal responsável pela orientação. Para os familiares, a criança deve ser orientada quanto à doença, tratamento, cuidados com a higiene das mãos, alimentos e possíveis reações da quimioterapia. Recursos lúdicos, como brincadeira, desenhos e livros ilustrativos podem ser usados como estratégias para a realização das orientações. É importante a orientação das crianças em tratamento quimioterápico com uso de recursos que possibilitem sua compreensão.
Objetivo: compreender os significados e os fatores intervenientes relativos ao uso de estratégias lúdicas no cuidado com a criança hospitalizada na perspectiva de discentes de enfermagem. Método: pesquisa qualitativa realizada com 17 discentes de enfermagem. Os dados foram coletados entre outubro de 2020 e março de 2021, sendo submetidos à análise temática de conteúdo e interpretados à luz do Interacionismo Simbólico. Resultados: os temas “Atribuindo Significados ao Lúdico” e “Fatores Intervenientes para o Desenvolvimento do Lúdico” revelaram as significações simbólicas das estratégias lúdicas para o cuidado dispensado à criança hospitalizada e os fatores intervenientes, a saber: disponibilidade de recursos humanos e materiais, rotina e burocracia institucional, capacitação e empenho dos profissionais e envolvimento do familiar. Considerações finais: compreendeu-se que as perspectivas simbólicas dos discentes determinaram as estratégias lúdicas como um recurso extremamente importante nas relações de cuidado com a criança hospitalizada e sua utilização está condicionada aos fatores intervenientes expostos.
Objective: To know the therapeutic itinerary of people diagnosed with Covid-19 from suspicion to the diagnosis. Method: Qualitative research. 65 people diagnosed with Covid-19 residing in Rio de Janeiro participated. Data collected using a semi-structured form sent via social media and processed in the software Interface de R pour Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes Et de Questionnaires by Descending Hierarchical Classification and Correspondence Factor Analysis. Results: Three classes of text segments were obtained that revealed the therapeutic itinerary, with emphasis on the search for care; shortage of tests; need to return to the units for diagnosis and follow-up; and the path to confirmatory test. Conclusion: The therapeutic itinerary of patients with Covid-19 showed weaknesses in the face of difficulties related to access to diagnostic tests and the organization of the system to meet the population’s demand in the face of the pandemic.
