Objective: to describe the perception of hospitalized children of school age, on nursing care and understand what are, from their perspective, the best ways to address it to when performing such care. Method: qualitative, descriptive, exploratory research, with concepts of Vygotsky used as theoretical framework. The data collection occurred through interviews mediated by drawings and was performed with ten school children, with the interview later transcribed and submitted to a thematic analysis. Results: showed the importance of playing during hospitalization, of a friendly and caring approach and providing explanations regarding the performed procedures. Conclusion: nursing professionals need to consider how the children would like to receive the care being provided, so that their singularities are respected, characterizing nursing actions according to a perspective of the whole human being. Objective: To understand the meaning attributed by undergraduate nursing students to the teaching and practice of Therapeutic Play (TP) in the Undergraduate Program in Nursing. Methods: A qualitative research project held using Symbolic Interactionism.Participants were 17 nursing students from a public university. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed by Conventional Qualitative Content Analysis. Results: Our results allowed us to understand the meaning attributed by the nursing student to the teaching of TP on the undergraduate program -it is a necessary and important intervention to promote quality and humane nursing care; therefore, its teaching must be ensured for undergraduate students. Resultados: Fue posible comprender el significado asignado por el graduando de enfermería a la enseñanza del JT en el curso de pregrado como una condición necesaria e importante para promover una atención de enfermería cualificada y humana; así, se debe garantizar a los alumnos de pregrado su enseñanza. Consideraciones finales: Se espera que sus resultados ayuden a reflexionar sobre la enseñanza del JT, con el objetivo de que este contenido rebase las fronteras del aula y de la práctica académica, favoreciendo la sensibilización del alumno para su futura utilización, cuando enfermero.
Objective: To understand the meaning of playing for the hospitalized child under precaution. Method: Qualitative research, where Symbolic Interactionism is the theoretical framework and Qualitative Content Analysis is the methodological one. It was attended by eight children aged between 5 and 10. Data were collected through participant observation of playful activities developed with the child by a nurse-researcher and semi-structured interviews mediated by story-drawing with theme. Results: Data showed the evolution of the interactions among toy, researcher and child; their rapid acceptance to get involved in playing; the way they explore the toys; the desire to free themselves from confinement; the relief of stress, the mastery of the situation and the protagonism enabled by the playing; the way they outline the hospital and the importance of having someone to play. Final considerations: Nurses should use creativity, seeking strategies that allow the child to play in this environment full of restrictions.
Aim:To describe the benefits of using ludicity during care practices for hospitalised children with cancer, according to the perceptions of the nursing team. Method: This is a qualitative, descriptive research, carried out with the help of a nursing team in a paediatric inpatient ward for children with cancer. The collection of data was performed using non-participative observations and semi-structured interviews. The data was treated using thematic analysis. Results: The benefits of ludicity include, better adherence to treatment, improvements in relationships between the nursing team and the child, and improvements in the acceptance of caring proceedings. Discussion: According to the perception of the professionals, ludicity facilitates the process of adapting the child to hospital, and improves the relationship between the child and the nursing team.
