Cultural determinants of employee engagement The article presents the problem of employees’ engagement. Being aware that values are the basis of employees’ engagement it was assumed that it could be different in enterprises operating in diverse cultures. Taking the models of culture by G. Hofstede and H. Schwarz into consideration as well as factors influencing engagement the analysis of cultural conditioning of engagement was conducted.
W artykule podjęto problem kultury coachingu oraz potrzeby jej kształtowania w organizacji. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja procesu kształtowania kultury coachingu w organizacji. Aby go zrealizować, zaprezentowano różne ujęcia kultury z perspektywy nauk o zarządzaniu, omówiono istotę kultury coachingu w organizacji oraz jej cechy, a także wskazano na niektóre problemy związane z jej kreowaniem. Ponadto wskazano potencjalne źródła oporów pracowników wobec zmian dominującego typu kultury w organizacji, które mogą sprzyjać wykształceniu się kultury coachingowej. (abstrakt oryginalny)
Summary The article presents the results of research concerning worklife balance of employees of enterprises located in lubuskie voivodeship. The working conditions provided by employers were analyzed. The authors of research checked whether they favor, according to the respondents, the homeostasis between work and private life. The results showed some deficits in this area. This led to reflection on the potential remedial actions which can be applied in the organization, such as a policy of „family friendly employment”.
Summary In order for a business activity to be ethical, one needs ethical employees. Nevertheless, the ongoing generational change leads to the situation in which the values and the resulting standards of ethical behavior that have been thus far embraced in the workplace may no longer be unacceptable or respected by young people that enter the labor market. The article sets out to answer the following questions: what place do core values occupy in ethics programs of businesses; is there any relationship between them and the professional values of employees; why take into account individual preferences of organization members in terms of value when developing the agenda of corporate values. An important point of the discussion has become the values shared by those entering the labor market (the so-called Generation Y, or millennials) and the differences in this regard between them and the employees who have been pursuing their professional careers for years now (Generation X).
Summary A situation in which appears at the same time a competition and cooperation between the subjects is defined as a coopetition. First of all it is considered at the mezo level – between the companies, but it can be analysed at the micro level – inside the organization. In the second case, it concerns shaping the relations among the employers which compete one with another and at the same time they cooperate. Among the organizations where the coopetion can be analysed we distinguish two types - for profit and non profit. A difference of the functioning of the for profit and non profit organizations can be seen among other things in the differences that refer to the shape of the coopetition. In the article the characteristic of a intraorganizational coopetition in the for profit and non profit subjects was presented. The base to formulate the conclusions was formed by the investigations made in which, to collect the data there were used the semistructure interviews with six sample selected organizations – three for profit and three non profit.
Summary Market of volunteers in Poland, especially those ones with specialized skills, is limited. An important reservoir of volunteer work are the universities. Non-governmental organizations should consider sustained cooperation with them. Volunteers predisposed to provide administrative support could be sought among the students of management. This article aims to answer the following questions: Are students of management want to get involved in the activities of non-governmental organizations? What are the motives of involvement in voluntary dominate among them? What benefi ts do they see, in collaboration with NGO’s? What actions can take the managers of these organizations to motivate volunteers?
Summary In democratic societies, citizens join as volunteers in the management of various areas of the social sphere. They do this by engaging in non-profit organizations’ activities. People are the basis for the functioning of these entities, so it is possible to use appropriately adapted HRM methods and tools. The important part of the social workforce of non-profit organizations is young people (up to the age -of 26). The article presents the results of research on the experiences of young volunteers - the characteristics of their involvement and their participation in personnel processes. The purpose of the article is to identify the number and types of third-sector organizations, which young people have been involved in, as well as the characteristics of work performed by them in those subjects. Moreover, the article’s aim is to diagnose of personal processes that these persons have been engaged in and to ascertain how do they evaluate their work experience in the organizations, which were analyzed.
The development of information technology, increase demand for mental work, shortening product life cycle and competing of the quality meant that knowledge is widely considered to be one of the most important resources of the organization. Taking into account activities related to the process of knowledge management (such as the acquisition of knowledge from the environment, identifying its in the organization, knowledge sharing) and their sources (internal and external stakeholders) can be noted that any knowledge management requires the involvement of employees. Based on the analysis of the employees engagement was found that managing knowledge should be supported by the affective commitment and focused on work organization and environment. They exhibit a specific behavior. Recognizing this problem for interesting the empirical research was carried out. Their goal was to identify the prevalence of involvement of employees in knowledge management and the desired employee behavior in the various activities of this processes. The study conducted among enterprises of Lubuskie province. The research used a survey method. It was found that the surveyed enterprises implement the activities related to knowledge management in a selective manner. In the light of the adopted criteria only one (out of 102) of the surveyed companies could be considered as knowledge management. It also seems that the attention is not focused on the creation of knowledge but its acquisition and protection. Taking into account the results of research on behavior conducive to knowledge management can be concluded that the climate for creativity exists at the level of teams but not the organization.
