Patients with periodontitis juvenilis and patients with periodontitis were tissue typed. In the juvenile group, frequencies of tissue type specificities HLA-A9, HLA-A28, and HLA-BW15 were significantly increased as compared to the findings in the general population. In the periodontitis groups, no significant tissue type deviations were found.

The gingival index (GI) and the Orogranulocytic Migratory Rate (OMR) were determined for 86 subjects. The statistical analyses revealed a highly significant correlation between the two parameters. An analysis of regression demonstrated that the correlation of GI and OMR changed with low to high values of GI, probably because GI is not a true parametric index.

– The present study contains data from a 4‐week clinical study where the effect of an experimental toothpaste containing 0.4% SnF2 on plaque and gingivitis was tested in a group of teenagers. The study was performed according to a double‐blind, cross‐over design. It was shown that the SnF2 containing toothpaste reduced both plaque and gingivitis significantly compared to a placebo paste which contained no fluoride or stannous ions.
