Children pedestrian as part of sustainable transportation requires safe and comfortable area for their activity. The design principle of a good quality children pedestrian needs in-depth research. Study involving children pedestrian are related mostly to research with an adult as a major user, behaviour and pedestrian route. This study aim is to analyse the design principle of children pedestrian in settlement and housing area. The location of the study is the city of Manado, Minahasa and North Minahasa Regency. Data is collected through questionnaire and survey on field area and recording through videos and photos of activities in children pedestrian using smartphone and camera. The samples for this research are children pedestrians in selected housing and settlement areas in Winangun area, schools in Manado and North Minahasa Regency. The number of samples is 111 children between the age of 8 to 12-year-old. The result showed children preference of object and place in the walking area. Their choice for pedestrian area is also interesting in which they consider the aspect of safety, comfort and fun for doing their activities in their neighbourhood area and the surrounding school area. A specific regulation for children pedestrian is important when considering child-friendly environments.
Accidents within rider and pedestrian are increased during the last five years period. Conflict street users occur due to factors such as behavior and facility available. This research aims to analyze rider behavior and its influence on the pedestrian-motorcycle accident. The research location is North Sulawesi Province, with the distribution of the questionnaire. Accident data reference is used to evaluate factors that influence the accident. Research result shows differences and similarity judgment for rider behavior in urban dan rural area. Majority choice show rider understanding of aspects in reducing the number of accidents. Differences in the location have a different facility available and the use of traffic lines for rider and pedestrian. Although it is not a majority, a choice against factors to reduce accidents can be fatal to the user. However, this option needs further research related to factors to influence such a choice. It is crucial to put safety pedestrian and rider into priority by strong regulation.
Flooding in the riverfront area is a danger for pedestrians without appropriate information and facility during the event. This research aims to analyze the principle design of the evacuation route for the pedestrian in Borgo Village. This village is located in Minahasa regency, North Sulawesi Indonesia. Many experiences of flooding followed by a landslide, Borgo Village has faced many destruction and victims during such an event. Therefore, creating a principle design can help improve access for evacuation for the pedestrian. The method of this research is field study with record area using photos and videos. Interview with the community in the area is conducted to support field data. Potential identification data is used to establish an area of evacuation and safety temporary location during evacuation. The result shows that several factors need to be implemented in the region. Such the factors are access from the river to the temporary evacuation building or area. The other one is the symbol and sign of evacuation that needs to be installed to the location, and the facility for the pedestrian pathway need to be constructed based on the standard design. Lastly, regulation for building setback in the riverfront area need to be applied to improve the city for water flow during flooding and flash flooding. There should be more attention to activity in the area as well as understanding land use for the riverfront and other waterfront areas for future research.

The Indonesian government has promoted the sustainable procurement method regarding the selection of professional planning consultants and main contractors to construct sustainable road infrastructure projects. However, sustainable procurement practice continues to make it difficult to select service providers considering their lack of knowledge and expertise in sustainable infrastructure projects. This paper performs a literature review which includes a review of the government rules and identifies the factors which influence successfully adopting sustainable procurement in Indonesian road infrastructure projects. The review, including lesson learned from other countries, suggests factors which can promote the successful implementation of sustainable procurement: environmentally friendly specifications, producing economical goods and services during the project lifecycle, empowering local societies and small industries, reducing negative impacts on health, air, water, and soil, implementing public-private partnership or private finance initiative methods for a better partnership between the public and private sectors, and requiring assessment methods to initiate and implement sustainable procurement from pre-project planning to project delivery. The review will provide practical knowledge among road infrastructure projects’ stakeholders, hence significantly affecting the adoption of the sustainable procurement process throughout the road infrastructure project lifecycle, as an example.
