The development of speaking ability for children is very important so that children could adapt and socialize with friends. This research aimed to determine the influence of picture book on children speaking ability aged of 4-5 years. The type of the research was quasi-experiment. The subjects of this study were the children of group A in Pringwulung kindergarten Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The data collection used an observation sheet, and then analyzed using the t-test through SPSS 16 program to see the differences in speaking ability between the two groups. The result of the research was that there is a significant influence on the improvement of children's speaking ability through picture book of preschool children in Pringwulung kindergarten Yogyakarta. The recommendations of this research can be used by teachers, parents, education practitioners in order to provide an optimal stimulation to the development of children's speaking ability.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi sejauh mana keterlaksanaan peran komite sekolah ditinjau dari peningkatan mutu pembelajaran di Sekolah Dasar se-Kabupaten Bantul. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian evaluative dengan pendekatan evaluasi model Stake (Stake’s Countenance Model). Hasil observasi terhadap proses keterlaksaan peran Komite Sekolah yang terjadi di lapangan dibandingkan dengan standar yang seharusnya sebagai kriteria untuk menentukan keberhasilan. Subjek penelitian adalah komite sekolah, kepala sekolah, dan guru SD di Kabupaten Bantul. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik angket, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Tahap antecedent (input dan perencanaan) pemahaman responden terhadap rancangan program implementasi peran Komite Sekolah belum sepenuhnya sesuai standar dan berkategori cukup dengan persentase 36%. (2) Tahap transaction terhadap implementasi program komite sekolah telah terlaksana dengan kategori baik dengan persentase 58%. (3) Tahap outcomes yaitu evaluasi terhadap implementasi peran Komite Sekolah terhadap tahap antecedent dan transaction masuk kategori cukup dengan persentase 47%. Implementasi peran program komite sekolah di SD Kabupaten Bantul belum memenuhi standar 100%. Oleh karena itu, hasil temuan dari penelitian ini diharapkan bisa dijadikan bahan untuk meningkatkan kinerja dari semua pihak. Kata kunci: Peran komite sekolah, Mutu pembelajaran

Early reading is an essential skill that is needed to be accelerated through application-based media. This study aims to develop Pancalis as a medium for the online teaching of early reading. This study used the Research and Development (RD) approach using the ADDIE model. The subjects were two experts as well as 18 teachers and five students of elementary schools. They were established using the purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used questionnaires and scales. The data analysis used descriptive statistics. The results show that: 1) at the analysis stage through literature study, it can be concluded that Pancalis as an Android-based application is an alternative learning media for the teaching of early-reading; while the result of field study shows teachers and students need learning media for early reading that can accommodate distance learning; 2) at the design stage, the Pancalis as an Android-based application for early-reading has been produced; 3) while at the end of the development stage, an assessment was carried out through an expert validation scale and it was found that the Pancalis is very suitable for the teaching of early-reading; while the practicality response questionnaire of teachers and students shows that Pancalis is very practical to use.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media boneka tangan terhadap keterampilan bercerita siswa kelas V SD se-gugus 4 Kecamatan Bantul. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan desain pretest-posttest group. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD se-gugus 4 Kecamatan Bantul pada semester I tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Sampel dipilih sebanyak tiga kelas dengan menggunakan teknik cluster sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik tes. Instrumen tes divalidasi dengan teknik expert judgement kemudian diujicobakan. Hasil ujicoba dianalisis menggunakan Alpha Cronbach dengan bantuan SPSS versi 16.0 untuk mengetahui reliabilitasnya. Uji normalitas menggunakan Kolmogorov-Smirnov dan uji homogenitas menggunakan Levene Test pada SPSS. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan menggunakan uji-t. Hasil analisis kemudian diuji signifikansinya dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa skor keterampilan bercerita kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen I dan II berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Kelompok kontrol memperoleh rata-rata skor pretest 16,07 dan posttest 16,60, kelompok eksperimen I memperoleh rata-rata skor pretest 16,13 dan posttest 20,97, sedangkan kelompok eksperimen II memperoleh skor pretest 15,80 dan posttest 20,90. Hasil uji-t adalah sig. 2 tailed 0,000 < 0,05. This article was aimed to identify the challenges that occur in the implementation of character education in elementary schools in Indonesia. This study applied a systematic review of literature using search protocol based on the PRISMA recommendation statement. The initial step of the study was the formulation of the research problem, then search of relevant research results from national journals on Garuda database and journal website. Then, an analysis of relevant research results was carried out in relation to the challenges in implementing the primary school character education program in Indonesia. The lack of support such as socialization, trainings, facilities and infrastructure were the main challenges that came from the government. Challenges from the teacher mostly focus on the difficulty and incompetence in assessing students' character. Challenges from the parents mostly related to the lack of support such as attention, participation and supervision for student character education.

This research aimed to describe the scientific approach and authentic assessment of the textbook based Curriculum 2013, on the theme “save living beings” for grade 6 students of elementary school such as textbooks published by Puskurbuk, Yudhistira, and Erlangga. The design of this study was content analysis. The instrument of the research was the analysis sheet based on theories. The validity of the instrument and the data was semantic validity and expert judgment. The reliability of the data was stability and reproducibility. The techniques of data analyzing consisted of unitizing, sampling, recording, reducing, inferring and narrating. The results of this study were; (1) The scientific approach contents consist of five aspects: observation, questions, trying, reasoning, and communicating, which are not in order. So not all indicators in every aspect of the scientific approach are found in each sub-theme. (2) Authentic assessment contents consist of three aspects: attitude assessment about social attitude and spiritual attitude, the psychomotor assessment contains only practice, product, and project assessment, and knowledge assessment without oral and assignment assessment.

Online Learning during Covid-19 Pandemic: Does it run well? Objectives: This article was aimed to identify the challenges that occur in the implementation of online learning during Covid-19 pandemic in several developing countries from teachers and students perspectives. Methods: We applied a systematic review of literature using search protocol based on the PRISMA recommendation statement. The initial step of the study was the formulation of the research problem, then search of relevant research results from national and international journals with the keyword "Covid online learning" on ScienceDirect, Directory of Open Access Journals and Google Scholar search engine. Then, an analysis of relevant research results was carried out in relation to challenges in the implementation online learning during Covid-19 pandemic in all level of educations.Findings: As a result, teachers mostly face challenges on the planning, implementation and evaluation of online learning. Technological challenges are the main challenges that students face in online learning during Covid-19 pandemic.Conclusion: There should be further investigations to identity challenges that teachers and students face in online learning.

This action research study aims to improve students’ skills in writing children’s storiesthrough the guided writing strategy. The research subjects were semester three studentsof PGSD FIP UNY. The data were collected through a pretest and a posttest in each cycle,interviews, observations, field notes, portfolio, and questionnaires. The data were analyzedusing descriptive statistics. The results of the study were as follows. First, the use of theguided writing strategy was capable of improving students’ skills in writing children’sstories. The learning process was implemented by making the students understandelements of a child’s story and language elements through: (a) reading children’s storiesby other writers, (b) discussing strory reading results by analyzing story elements, (c)retelling the stories that had been read, and (d) writing stories independently. Second, thestudents’ skills in writing children’s stories improved in each cycle. Based on the pretestresults, no student (0%) had a high level of skills, 7 students (25.9%) had a moderate levelof skills, and 20 students (74.1%) had a low level of skills. Based on the posttest resultsin Cycle 3, 12 students (44%) had a high level of skills, 15 students (56%) had a moderatelevel of skills, and no student had a low level of skills.Keywords: story writing, schildren’s stories, guided writing strategy
