This paper presents an experience report concerning of an introductory course of computer programming. This course have offered to people without previous contact with programming. Its main goal was to promote logic reasoning, computational thinking, creativity, and to attract potential students to Computer Science undergraduate courses.
Several researchers consider that is important to introduce and develop the Computational Thinking from the earliest years of basic education. Some of them belive that digital games may be one of resources for it. However, before developing new game solutions for this purpose, it is important to recognize how games can actually contribute to the development of Computational Thinking, as well as to identify which skills have been worked on. In this sense, this article presents the synthesis of a systematic mapping, whose objective was to identify how digital games can be used to develop Computational Thinking skills. It was possible to identify some games used to stimulate the development of Computational Reasoning skills, as well as the mechanics used by these games.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
