Understanding native communities is a crucial step for the management of biological nitrogen fixation, since they may be either a source of efficient strains or a limiting factor when efficient strains need to be introduced. This work aimed to evaluate the density, diversity and efficiency of Leguminosae nodulating bacterial (LNB) communities and their component strains in soils under various land use systems (LUSs): pristine forest, agriculture, pasture, agroforestry, young secondary forest, and old secondary forest,. The LNB communities were trapped from these soils by using the promiscuous host siratro under controlled conditions. We also studied their relationships with physical and chemical attributes of the soil. Agroforestry and agriculture soil samples induced the highest number of nodules in siratro, while forest soil samples induced the lowest number of nodules. No relationship was found between LNB and Leguminosae species diversity in the LUSs. The soil chemical variables that were most related to differences in nodule number and shoot dry matter weight of plants inoculated with soil suspensions of the LUSs were, respectively: Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ , base saturation, exchangeable bases and Cu 2+ ; and pH, cation exchange capacity, B, Cu 2+ and clay. Although, LNB communities from all LUSs were efficient under controlled and similar conditions, they were found to be composed of strains with variable efficiency: inefficient, efficient, highly efficient and superior efficiency. Efficient strains occurred at the highest frequency in all LUSs. The isolated strains presented similar and new sequences that were phylogenetically related to well known LNB genera in α-and β-Proteobacteria. Unusual genera in these branches, as well as in other branches, which are probably endophytic bacteria, were also isolated from nodules. These data support siratro as a useful trap species to study the LNB biodiversity of diverse ecosystems in tropical soils. The fact that the highest diversity and nodulation were seen in managed systems such as agriculture and agroforestry suggests a high resilience of LNB communities to changes in land use after deforestation in a region where large forest areas are still preserved and can be a source of propagules.

RESUMO O feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) é um dos principais constituintes da dieta do brasileiro, por ser excelente fonte protéica e, portanto, um produto agrícola de grande importância econômico-social. A interação do feijoeiro com bactérias fixadoras de N atmosférico pode aumentar a produtividade e diminuir os custos de produção. No presente trabalho, avaliou-se, no campo, a eficiência agronômica de estirpes previamente selecionadas de rizóbio em simbiose com o feijoeiro, comparadas à estirpe recomendada para a produção de inoculantes comerciais (CIAT 899). A diversidade fenotípica da população nativa foi avaliada pela análise das características culturais e pela análise de proteína total por eletroforese em gel poliacrilamida (SDS-PAGE). Verificou-se que a inoculação no campo com as estirpes UFLA 02-100, UFLA 02-86 e UFLA 02-127 promoveu rendimento de grãos semelhante ao da testemunha, com 70 kg ha -1 de N, e à inoculação com a estirpe de referência CIAT 899. Não houve relação entre os grupos fenotípicos de perfil protéico total e caracterização cultural constituídos pelas estirpes nativas do solo. As populações nativas que nodularam feijão mostraram-se bastante diversas fenotipicamente e não incluíram estirpes similares às estirpes introduzidas como inoculantes. -The objective of this experiment was to evaluate responses of soybean cultivars seeds (with different levels of lignin) considering harvest postponement under the incidence of water and the effect of storage. The experiment was conducted in Iraí de Minas, Brazil using a randomized block design with three replications under a 5 x 3 x 3 factorial arrangement, with five soybean cultivars (NK 7059 RR, SYN 1163 RR, SYN 9070 RR, AS 7307 RR and SYN 1283 RR), three harvesting periods (R8, R8 + one rain simulation in the pre-harvesting period and R8 + two simulations in the pre-harvesting period) under three storage times (0, 90 and 180 days). Seeds were evaluated for their chemical composition (lignin contents), the percentage of moisture damage using the tetrazolium test and physiological quality (germination, accelerated aging, conductivity test, seedling emergence and emergence index). Cultivar AS 7307 RR had the highest lignin content in the integument, the lowest percentage of damage by moisture and the highest physiological quality. Cultivars NK 7059 RR and SYN 1163 RR had the lowest lignin contents in the integument and the highest moisture damage. Electrical conductivity increased after storing all cultivars.Index terms: Glycine max, lignin, storage.Qualidade fisiológica de sementes de soja submetidas à chuva artificial na pré-colheita RESUMO -Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar o desempenho de sementes de cultivares de soja com diferentes teores de lignina considerando o retardamento da colheita sob incidência artificial de chuva, e ao longo do armazenamento. O ensaio foi conduzido em Iraí de Minas, MG, em blocos casualizados com três repetições e esquema fatorial 5 x 3 x 3, sendo cinco cultivares de soja (NK 7059 RR, SYN 1163 RR, SYN 9070 RR, AS 7307 RR e SYN 1283 RR), três épocas de colheita (R8, R8 + uma simulação de chuva na pré-colheita e R8 + duas simulações de chuva na pré-colheita), e três épocas de armazenamento (0, 90 e 180 dias). As sementes foram avaliadas quanto à composição química (teor de lignina), porcentagem de danos por umidade usando o teste de tetrazólio, e a qualidade fisiológica (germinação, teste de envelhecimento, condutividade elétrica, emergência, índice de emergência). A cultivar AS 7307 RR apresentou maior teor de lignina no tegumento, menor porcentagem de danos por umidade e melhor qualidade fisiológica. As cultivares NK 7059 RR e SYN 1163 RR apresentam menores teores de lignina no tegumento e maiores danos por umidade. Resumo -Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a diversidade fenotípica e a eficiência simbiótica de estirpes de Bradyrhizobium, isoladas de solos da Amazônia, sob diferentes sistemas de uso da terra (monocultura, capoeira, pastagem, floresta e sistema agroflorestal). A análise dos perfis de proteína total de 46 estirpes, obtidos por eletroforese em gel de poliacrilamida (SDS-PAGE), mostrou grande diversidade, tendo formado 11 grupos com similaridade acima de 80%. Apenas um dos grupos continha a estirpe referência de B. elkanii: BR29, recomendada como inoculante para soja. Vinte e duas estirpes testadas em vasos de Leonard, com caupi (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.), induziram à produção de matéria seca e ao acúmulo de nitrogênio, na parte aérea da planta, e à eficiência relativa superiores aos da testemunha (sem N e sem inoculação). Entre as estirpes testadas, 13 induziram à produção de matéria seca e à eficiência relativa similares às da testemunha nitrogenada (com N, sem inoculação); cinco estirpes induziram a acúmulo de N superior ao da testemunha nitrogenada. Essas populações nativas são constituídas por grande diversidade de estirpes, com eficiência simbiótica variável, algumas das quais podem ser recomendadas para testes de eficiência agronômica.Termos para indexação: Vigna unguiculata, fixação biológica de N 2 , bactérias nodulíferas. Phenotypic diversity and symbiotic efficiency of Bradyrhizobium spp. strains from Amazonian soilsAbstract -This work aimed to evaluate the phenotypic diversity and symbiotic efficiency of Bradyrhizobium strains isolated from Amazonian soils, under different land use systems (crop, fallow, pasture, forest and agroforestry system). Total protein profiles obtained by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) of 46 strains showed great diversity, while 11 groups presented similarity above 80%. One of these groups contained the reference strain of B. elkanii: BR29, recommended as soybean inoculant. Twenty-two strains, tested in Leonard jars for symbiotic efficiency with Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp. (cowpea) produced shoot dry matter, N-content, and relative efficiency higher than the control (without N, with inoculation). Production of shoot dry matter and relative efficiency were induced by 13 strains in a way similar to the N-control (with N, without inoculation); five strains induced higher nitrogen content than N-control. Native populations comprise high diversity of strains with variable symbiotic efficiency, and some of them could be recommended for agronomic efficiency assays.

A elevada susceptibilidade da soja ao mofo-branco tem impactado negativamente a sua produtividade. Atualmente métodos de controle biológico como o uso de Trichoderma spp. têm proporcionado alternativas ao controle químico, com menor impacto ambiental e favorecimento do desenvolvimento vegetal. Objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos de T. harzianum sobre a emergência de sementes de soja inoculadas com Sclerotinia sclerotiorum; além de verificar a interação entre os fungos e com a soja, por meio da microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV ABSTRACTThe high susceptibility of soybean to white mold has negatively impacted its productivity. Then, the vegetative organs of emerged seedlings were sectioned to evaluate, by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), T. harzianum potential to parasitize and inhibit S. sclerotiorum. In fact, the white mold is capable of colonizing and deteriorating all soybean seeds. T. harzianum is effective in colonizing the root system of soybeans but does not contribute to emergence, compared to control. Based on the ultrastructural analysis, mycoparasitism of T. harzianum and S. Sclerotiorum was evidenced, but the control of the causal agent of white mold was not as effective as shown in other studies.
