Background: Hand gel is a preparation used to protect hand skin from dryness. The antioxidant compounds in sappan wood and limau citrus peel can moisturize hands by preventing the oxidation of oils and fats on the surface of the (sebaceous glands). Objective: This study aims to formulate hand gel from ethanol extract of sappan wood with a combination of limau citrus peel extract that can moisturize hands and not to cause irritation. Methods: Sappan wood and limau citrus peel simplicia were macerated using 96% ethanol. The ethanolic extracts were then formulated into hand gel by varying the concentration of the ethanol extracts. The evaluation of the hand gel involved an organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, spreadability test, viscosity test, and skin moisture test. A primary irritation test was carried out to ensure the hand gel’s safety. Results: The results shows that the three hand gel formulas produce an orange-red color and soft scent of roses and citrus, with a pH of 7.8 and with good homogeneity. The formulas also have a spreading level of FI (5 cm), FII (5.2 cm), and FIII (5, 1 cm), and viscosity values were FI 12000 mPas, F II 12500 mPas, and F III 12400 mPas. The humidity test results on the three formulas shows different moisture values of 45.16%, 46.17%, and 45.09%, respectively (category of normal or moisture). The hand gel formulas have an irritation index of 0 (no irritation category). Conclusion: The hand gel formulas meet the quality requirements of hand gel, have moisturizing agent, and are not irritating.

Clove leaves contain antioxidant compounds such as saponins, flavonoids, tannins, sterols, and essential oils. Among those chemical constituents, eugenol, eugenol acetate, caryophyllene, and sesquiterpenes were believed to have aphrodisiac activity. This study aims to investigate the potential aphrodisiac effects of the ethyl acetate fraction of clove leaves (Syzygium aromaticum L) administered at a dose of 250 mg/kg BW. The research employed an experimental method with a modified post-test randomized controlled group design and utilized a total of 45 white rats, consisting of 15 males and 30 females, divided into three treatment groups in a 1:2 ratio. Each group consisted of 5 male rats and 10 female rats. The three groups included the healthy control group (Na-CMC 0.5%), the positive control group (treated with X-Gra 52.5 mg/kg body weight) and the treatment group receiving clove leaf extract samples at a dosage of 250 mg/kg BW. The results indicate that the ethyl acetate fraction of clove leaves contains steroids and alkaloids with mount latency (ML), intromission latency (IL) ejaculation latency (EL), mount frequency (MF), intromission frequency (IF) and ejaculation frequency (EF) of 11.40 s, 15.80 s, 6.228 s, 23.60, 14.60, and 1.60 s, respectively. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that it has the potential to be used as an aphrodisiac agent. Afrodisiak merupakan kandungan senyawa yang memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan gairah seksual. Beberapa senyawa tersebut berasal dari golongan flavonoid, alkaloid, dan juga steroid saponin yang banyak terdapat pada beberapa jenis tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji beberapa jenis tanaman yang mengandung senyawa yang berpotensi sebagai afrosidik dan mekanismenya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi literatur yang bersumber dari berbagai jurnal-jurnal penelitian terkait. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanaman yang memiliki potensi sebagai afrodisiak alami yaitu antara lain rebung bambu tabah (Gigantochloa Nigrociliata), daun katuk (Sauropus androgynus (L) Merr.), buah terong ungu (Solanum melongena L), buah cabe jawa (Piper retrofractum Vahl), bawang putih (Allium sativum), buah Pare (Momordica charantina L.), daun kemangi (Ocimum bacilicum), lada (Piper nigrum), Kulit buah semangka (Citrulus lanatus Thunb.), dan jahe merah (Zingebar officinale Roscoe). Potensi tanaman-tanaman tersebut sebagai afrodisiak alami diperoleh dari pengujian kepada hewan coba berupa mencit, tikus, dan kelinci dengan beberapa pelakuan dan analisis.
