This paper reports the results of a study that investigated the structure of the Problem Statement (PS) section, following Swales’ (1990) Create-A-Research-Space (CARS) model as the first objective. Move analysis was used to analyze the rhetorical moves of the PS sections of the research projects. The second objective was the identification of the specific types of linguistic features associated with each move and step based on Pho’s (2013) classification. Following Pho (2013), the linguistic features as important signals of moves were identified. For this purpose, 30 research projects written by Iranian master’s students were purposively selected. The findings showed that the obligatory moves were Moves 1 ‘Establishing a Territory’ and 2 ‘Establishing a Niche’. All moves and steps were identified linguistically although their sequence and arrangement were not the same as what was anticipated by the model. Although the cyclic and embedded moves were defined in the rhetorical structure of the PSs, most of them were anomalous or ill-structured. The study has theoretical contributions, the most significant one of which is that the CARS model is applicable to define and analyze the rhetorical structure of the PS section.

Communication as the essence of interaction between people plays an important role in all aspects of life, including politics. The view that communication includes politics, presumably understandable, because politics is all-present (ubiquitous) and multi-dimensional. Political communication, in practice can take the form of speech, public speaking or rhetoric. And when it comes to political communication in its various forms, our attention will be drawn to the various colors of the speeches of legislators (in this paper the author mentions lawmakers). There are three indicators analyzed, by using Aristotle's rhetorical theory, namely Ethos, pathos and Logos. This paper uses a qualitative method which is considered as a written analysis of words related to ideas, ideas, beliefs, feelings, habits and behaviors of human Walliman in (Akbar, 2021). The analysis used by the authors is descriptive analytical to provide an overview of how the perspectives of lawmakers (in other terms, legislators) view the functioning of the state and government in the covid 19 vaccination program. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique in writing this article departs from an explanation (Creswell, 2014) which focuses on data analysis through data organization, reading and recording, as well as description, clarification, and interpretation (Agustino, 2020). The result is that MPs' speeches on Indonesia's Covid 19 handling policies are largely determined by their position, whether from government-supporting parties or the opposition

This study aims to scrutinize the utilization both of visual and written language toward the billboard of legislative candidates in the general election 2019. The sources of the data are 2 billboards from 9 parties winning the general election 2019 in Indonesia and the data that has been taken by the researchers are slogans and photos which have been deployed on the billboards. This qualitative research uses the method of descriptive analysis. On billboard 1 (Golkar), the dominance of the persuasive discourse is a wise clause which has been deployed to build a good reputation about legislative candidates. Meanwhile on billboard 2 (PKS), the dominance is the invitation which indicated that the legislative candidates directly invited the people to choose them. Through the visual and written language, the legislative candidates showed their identities strongly. Briefly, these billboards which showed in this research contained the strong persuasive language which combined both of written and visual languages. Keywords: Language, Persuasive, Visual, Parties
