Scientific writing is a way for someone to put the concept of thinking in written form so that other people can understand what is being thought. Students are the next generations who have idealism in thinking that needs to be nurtured. The purpose of this study was to improve the scientific writ-ing of students through Collaborative Learning by utilizing blended learn-ing technology. The research method used is action research, using collabo-rative learning that is applied in learning to write scientific paper. The stu-dents are expected to have logical thinking aspects, data objectivity, vocab-ulary mastery, use of Enhanced Spelling (EYD), use of effective sentences, and paragraph development. It can be concluded that collaborative learning can improve the ability to write scientific articles because in collaborative learning students are very active, motivated and always intrigued by their hearts and minds to solve problems faced in the same group and they can compete competitively, and motivate other students to achieve the maxi-mum learning outcomes
Reading comprehension depicted as the most important skills and a complex cognitive process for the achievement of success or learning outcome in both school and society where reader’s prior knowledge and experiences serve central roles in the interpretation of a text or the interaction of the reader, the text, and the context. The purpose of the exploratory study was to investigate the effect of the Moodle e-learning on EFL reading comprehension. 27 EFL college students were participating in the study. Data were collected through the pretest and posttest of reading comprehension. Data analysis involved three stages: normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing by utilizing software statistical package for social science (SPSS) for the window. Results indicate that the use of Moodle e-learning has a significant effect on improving students’ reading comprehension.
There has been a long debate among the language practitioners on the effectiveness of an approach for teaching grammar. Some pros to the effectiveness of the deductive approach, while others believe that the inductive approach works better in enhancing students grammatical competence. This paper discusses the effectiveness of an integrated story-based grammar learning (ISGL) modelon students' grammar learning achievement. This study was an experimental study involving two groups with 35 students in each of itsexperimental and control group at the English Education Study Program, University of Bengkulu. The data were taken by using a grammarpretest and post-test and an interview. The pretest and post-test scores were analyzed by the using t-test calculation and the interview data was analyzed through the steps of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The result of the t-test calculation shows that t-count (2.775) was greater than t-table (1.995). It means the use of the ISGL model is more effective in enhancing the students' grammar learning achievement than the conventional approach which commonly used at the EESP, FKIP University of Bengkulu. In addition, the interview results also reveal that use of ISGL model makes the grammar learning more interesting and enjoyable.
