Critical thinking skills are fundamental skills possessed by students to adapt to the external challenges of 21st-century. Then research on the effect of the implementation of inquiry learning models on students' critical thinking skills. This study was categorized as a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this research is 224 students are divided into seven different classes. The sample selected by using cluster random sampling technique and selected 2 classes. The instrument of critical thinking consists of 6 essay questions given by an individual on material temperature and heat. Critical thinking test first through the validity test by experts. Critical thinking skills tests are given at the beginning and end of learning. Hypothesis testing is done by independent t-test. Before testing the hypothesis, the normality and homogeneity of the data are tested as a prerequisite for the parametric statistical test. This indicates that there is a difference in the critical thinking skills of students who take the inquiry learning model from students who learn to use the non-inquiry learning model. The inquiry learning model applied in the experimental class aims to train students in finding a concept related to temperature and heat.

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya permasalahan rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap ilmiah siswa dalam pelajaran fisika di kelas X IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Kuta. Alternatif solusi dari permasalahan tersebut adalah penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, sikap ilmiah siswa, dan mendeskripsikan tanggapan siswa terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing dalam pelajaran fisika. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X IPA 2 pada semester genap tahun pelajaran 2019/2020 sebanyak 35 orang siswa yang terdiri dari 17 orang siswa laki-laki dan 18 orang siswa perempuan. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 siklus. Data kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa diperoleh dari tes kemampuan berpikir kritis. Data sikap ilmiah siswa dan data tanggapan siswa terhadap model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing diperoleh melalui angket. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa siklus I berada pada kategori baik ( X = 76,37, SD = 7,76) dengan KK 91,43% dan siklus II berada pada kategori sangat baik ( X = 89,58, SD = 6,60) dengan KK 100%, (2) sikap ilmiah siswa siklus I berada pada kategori tinggi ( X = 110,60, SD = 7,39) dan siklus II juga berada pada kategori tinggi ( X = 118,83, SD = 7,35), (3) tanggapan siswa terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing berada pada kategori positif ( X = 114,11, SD = 6,55). Simpulan hasil penelitian ini adalah penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap ilmiah siswa dalam pelajaran fisika dan siswa menunjukkan tanggapan positif terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing. This study aims to determine how guided inquiry models could improve students' critical thinking ability. This study is such a kind of qualitative content analysis. The study was done by analyzing articles from different journals. Each journal was nationally accredited. The author of each article focused on extending the Guided Inquiry Model's implementation could increase students' critical thinking ability. Qualitative data analysis was conducted. The results of those articles showed that there was an increase in critical thinking skills by implementing guided inquiry models on science learning, and there are factors that influence the success of the inquiry model on the essential skills of thinking of students, including mental readiness, student effectiveness, and teaching skills in facilitating learning which greatly determines the success of the guided inquiry
