Flavonoid Constituents and Free Radical Scavenging Activity of Alchemilla mollis

Abstract: Antioxidant capacity of the methanolic extract of Alchemilla mollis was measured by its ability to scavenge the DPPH radical. The EtOAc fraction obtained after partition of the total extract was found to be the most active radical scavenger (IC 50 9.8 ± 1.8 μg/mL) and was subjected to fractionation by Sephadex LH-20 CC. Further purification by RP-18 CC led to the isolation of eight flavonoid glycosides: cisand trans-tiliroside (1 and 2), rhodiolgin (3), hyperoside (4), isoquercitrin (5), miquelianin (6), sinoc… Show more

“…One capsule of HKC contains 0.5 g of AM. The productive process of HKC is subjected to strict quality control, and the main components are subjected to standardization (Trendafilova et al, 2011;Xue et al, 2011). In addition, HKC is not only manufactured as granules after dynamic cycle extraction and concentration by evaporating and spray drying, but also monitored for the absence of contaminants (heavy metals, pesticides, hormone and mycotoxins) prior to the formulation.…”

“…Alchemilla mollis ( Buser ) Rothm . is one of the species grown in Turkey and reported to have potent antioxidant activity, but the antimicrobial and anti‐inflammatory activity of this plant has not been documented well . In this study, we have determined antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of hexane, ethyl acetate (AcOEt), methanol (MeOH), butanol (BuOH), water, and 70% methanol (70% MeOH) extracts of A. mollis .…”

“…"Herba Alchemillae", a commercial drug containing A. mollis extract, has astringent, diuretic, and antispasmodic effects; it is also used as a medicine for the treatment of wounds and the treatment of excessive menstruation in folk medicine. [51][52][53] A. mollis grows naturally and widely in Turkey, especially in north and north-eastern Anatolia. 54 Alchemilla mollis Rothm aerial part and root methanolic-water extracts were evaluated for their hepatoprotective activity on carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity and hypoglycemic activity on alloxan-induced diabetic mice.…”
