Gaps identified in Brazilian health policies and the need to develop and implement strategies for the empowerment and monitoring of family caregivers support the development of care proposals aimed at the family. The present study aimed to analyze the challenges faced by family members providing day to day care of patients with Alzheimer's disease in the city of Chapecó, Santa Catarina. The method employed was the qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews. The speeches were grouped, categorized and analyzed using the hermeneutic method. The results showed that during the period of Alzheimer's disease, caregivers experience a range of situations, including: a need to learn about the disease; dealing with guilt; and handling situations of pain, addiction and physical and psychological suffering. In conclusion the study described the challenges of the daily lives of these families, explaining the importance of and highlighting the need to adopt tools and strategies that provide physical, emotional, psychological and financial support to family caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's disease.

Objetivo: Compreender a dimensão espaço-tempo e os atos-atitudes de cuidado na experiência familiar da situação crônica de adoecimento. Metodologia: Abordagem compreensiva, conduzida como “estudo de situação”, sendo o material empírico três experiências familiares de cuidado e adoecimento. A análise permitiu-nos intuir algumas “noções sobre o cuidado” e delas extraímos a dimensão espaço-tempo e atos-atitudes de cuidado como sua substância. Resultados: Evidenciamos diferentes modos de cuidar e de ser/estar com o outro no cuidado, tal como a modelagem produzida pela família em seu cotidiano, tendo este como espaço-tempo privilegiado de provisão do cuidado e atos-atitudes virtuosos de cuidado dos familiares e de profissionais de saúde ao longo da experiência do adoecimento, que propiciaram que o cuidado acontecesse. Conclusão: Os profissionais de saúde precisam querer moldar o cuidado oferecido para as pessoas, objetivando tornarem-se apoio e referência de cuidado para as famílias, somando-se aos seus potenciais cuidativos na construção de um “cuidado-com”.

RESUMO ABSTRACT Objective:To know what perceptions of undergraduate nursing students in a public university about the Nursing Lab. Methods: a qualitative approach was used. Data was collected through open interviews and the sample size was determined by saturation. Data was then processed according to the criteria established in the thematic analysis. Results: the interviews generated two categories: Motives that lead to non-use of the laboratory and meanings assigned to the laboratory by students. Conclusion: students attend the Laboratory only on the eve of practical tests. Therefore, it reiterates the idea that educational contents, including practical and theoretical-practical arouse more attention from the students when linked to charges situations. RESUMEMObjetivos: conocer percepciones sobre el Laboratorio de Enfermería para estudiantes de graduación en enfermería de universidad pública. Método: enfoque cualitativo. La entrevista abierta fue el instrumento de colecta de datos y el tamaño de la muestra fue establecido por la saturación. Los datos fueron tratados como criterios de análisis temáticas. Resultados: Se generaron dos categorías: Motivos que llevan al no uso del laboratorio y Significados asignados al laboratorio por los estudiantes. Conclusión: Los estudiantes buscan al laboratorio solo en la víspera de las pruebas prácticas. Por lo tanto, se reitera la idea de que los contenidos educativos, incluyendo práctico y teórico-práctico despiertan más la atención de los estudiantes cuando están vinculadas a situaciones cobradas.
