The study was cross-sectional and observational and conducted in the city of Chapecó, SC, from July 2008 to January 2009. The sample included 2,160 individuals with 720 individuals interviewed in each age group. The analysis was univariate and obtained the absolute and relative frequency of each variable. The final data obtained were statistically analyzed with SPSS 13.0 software. It was observed that 77.6% of the respondents were Catholic and that the older individuals were more religious. A total of 50.6% of the respondents prayed once a day, 38.3% of them to offer thanks and 30.4% in the supine position. We conclude that religiosity is a valuable resource in coping with the crises of everyday life and positively affects physical and mental health, particularly in the elderly. RESUmEnSe objetivó identificar cómo son experimentadas la religiosidad y las prácticas espirituales en las diferentes fajas etarias durante el proceso de envejecimiento. Estudio observacional, de tipo transversal, realizado en Chapecó-SC, de julio 2008 a enero 2009. Muestra de 2160 personas, con 720 individuos entrevistados en cada faja etaria. Se utilizó análisis descriptivo univariado, con obtención de frecuencias simples y relativas para cada variable. Los datos finales recibieron tratamiento estadístico por software SPSS 13.0. Se observó que: 77,6% de los entrevistados eran cató-licos, que a mayor edad correspondió mayor religiosidad, 50,6% de los entrevistados reza una vez al día, 38,3% de ellos reza para agradecer y 30,4% reza acostado. Objetivo: evaluar estado de salud mental, índice de depresión, humor y calidad de vida (CV) de ancianos.Metodología: estudio transversal cuantitativo realizado con 122 personas con más de 60 años, atendidas por la atención primaria. Los datos se recolectaron con inventarios de evaluación de CV (WHOQOL-OLD/WHOQOL-BREF), Escala de Depresión Geriátrica y cuestionario sociodemográfico y clínico. El análisis de los datos se ejecutó medianteestadística descriptiva.Resultados: la mayoría se considera saludable, aunque el 40,2 % presenta agravios a la salud, 55,6 % utiliza ansiolíticos y antidepresivos y 61,5 % presenta depresión, asociada estadísticamente a pertenecer al sexo femenino, estado civil viudo/soltero/divorciado, vivir solo y no practicaractividades de ocio y comunitarias. La depresión fue inversamente asociada al estado civil casado, residir con otraspersonas y a la práctica de actividad física y de ocio. Hubo fuerte asociación entre aumento de la intensidad de los síntomas depresivos y disminución de la CV en todos los ámbitos. La satisfacción con su CV fue moderada, con mayor puntuación en ‘relaciones sociales’ y menor en el dominio ‘físico’. En WHOQOL-OLD hubo puntuaciones medias más altas en los dominios ‘intimidad’ y ‘participación social’ y menor puntuación en el dominio ‘muerte y morir’.Conclusión: la percepción de mejor CV se asocia a la edad, estado civil, autopercepción de ‘estar saludable’ y ausenciade depresión. Tabaquismo se relaciona con peor CV en todos los ámbitos. La relación entre consumo de alcohol y mejor evaluación en el dominio ‘muerte y morir’ necesita ser elucidada.
Gaps identified in Brazilian health policies and the need to develop and implement strategies for the empowerment and monitoring of family caregivers support the development of care proposals aimed at the family. The present study aimed to analyze the challenges faced by family members providing day to day care of patients with Alzheimer's disease in the city of Chapecó, Santa Catarina. The method employed was the qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews. The speeches were grouped, categorized and analyzed using the hermeneutic method. The results showed that during the period of Alzheimer's disease, caregivers experience a range of situations, including: a need to learn about the disease; dealing with guilt; and handling situations of pain, addiction and physical and psychological suffering. In conclusion the study described the challenges of the daily lives of these families, explaining the importance of and highlighting the need to adopt tools and strategies that provide physical, emotional, psychological and financial support to family caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's disease.
Objectives: To reflect on teaching experience in the application of the spiritual nursing care called permission for departing. Methods: It is a methodological reflection and description of a subtle technology for spiritual nursing care called permission for departing. Results: the permission for departing is a spiritual care that allows for an intentional therapeutic relationship of trust and safety among the professional, patients, and the family, enabling the expression of feelings, beliefs, and religious or spiritual rites that help in death and dying situations. Final Considerations: a concept structured by words and attitudes reinforcing what is positive was coined, aiming at a consciousness state of peace and the promotion of dignity in the death and dying process, as well as for time for the patients, their families and the team to experience contemplation and parting.
Objetivo: Compartilhar a experiência da utilização da música no ambiente hospitalar para promover a saúde de pacientes oncológicos e de seus familiares. Síntese dos dados: Trata-se de um relato de experiência, realizado no ano de 2018, proveniente de um programa de extensão de uma universidade federal de um estado do sul do Brasil, que conta com a participação de docentes e acadêmicos, que semanalmente cantam nos quartos dos pacientes internados em um hospital público da região, com atuação na unidade da oncologia, radioterapia e quimioterapia, com o apoio de dois violões e um violino. Os autores perceberam que a música desperta sorrisos, abraços e esperança, proporcionando momentos de lazer e reflexão não somente aos pacientes, mas também aos familiares que os acompanham e à equipe multiprofissional, promovendo a saúde na área hospitalar. Conclusão: A participação nessa atividade de extensão proporcionou aos acadêmicos e aos promotores do evento a oportunidade de desenvolver um olhar diferenciado sobre o paciente e sobre o ato de cuidar e o despertar de um sentimento tão nobre e significativo, que é o cuidado humanizado no serviço de saúde.
