Considering voice is the teacher's work tool and its role in teaching process, this study intend to explore the fact vocal disturbances related to teacher's work has not been defined as a worker's health grievance, despite its relevance and legal basis evidences. The group seeks to relate the occupational category's labor bonds and the communication/notification in case of accidents and/or diseases related to work, besides a reflection over major questions and needs arising from the absence of technical and legal procedures from Health, Labor, Employment and Social Security Ministries in cases of disorders resulting from alterations in teacher's voice.

Introduction: Call center operators are voice professionals with great vocal demand and, consequently, are exposed to voice disorders. Purpose: Characterize vocal and laryngeal aspects among operators of a call center that follows the regulatory standards in ergonomics by measuring voice self-perception, otorhinolaryngological evaluation, and voice perceptualauditory analysis. Methods: The study assessed 30 call center operators between 18 and 41 years old. All subjects were assessed using the Escala de Sintomas Vocais (ESV) -the Brazilian version of the Voice Symptom Scale (VoiSS) -, otorhinolaryngological evaluation using fiberoptic video rhinolaryngoscopy, and voice perceptual-auditory assessment using the GRBASI scale that evaluates degree of voice alteration (G), voice roughness (R), breathiness (B), asthenia (A), strain (S), and instability (I). Results:The ESV showed a correlation between the overall domain and the other subdomains and between the subdomains limitation and physical. The otorhinolaryngological evaluation revealed that 12 operators had some alteration such as secretion accumulation during phonation and glottic chinks. The voice perceptual-auditory analysis found individuals with normal voice and with slight to moderate degree of alteration, besides a correlation between the item instability in the GRBASI scale and the overall degree, roughness, breathiness, and asthenia. Conclusion: Proper work environments that provide care with voice may improve labor quality of call center professionals, thus mitigating the risks of developing voice disorders. Nonetheless, physical, social, environmental, organizational, and psychological factors may cause voice symptoms among those voice professionals. Keywords INTRODUCTIONVoice disorders at work hinder communication, interaction, and service efficiency. When working on the phone, voice alterations or imbalance in the use of communication resources compromise the performance of professionals (1) . The association of extended voice use and individual, environmental, and labor organization factors may increase the prevalence of voice complaints, leading to absences and inability to perform duties, which leads to financial and social damages (2) . In recent years, several professionals and specialists in voice have come together to classify a new category of patology, called work-related voice disorder (WRVD), so that the diagnosis and treatment of voice disorders can be organized. WRVD comprehends signs and symptoms such as fatigue when speaking, hoarseness, effort to speak, and loss of vocal efficiency, among others (3) . Call center operators are voice professionals with a high prevalence of vocal wear (4) . They are exposed to the risk of voice disorders due to the intense demand in voice use and have several associated symptoms and complaints (1,5,6) . Justificativa e Objetivos: Embora os estudos de caso-controle tenham inúmeras vantagens, eles são vulneráveis a vieses que podem mascarar os verdadeiros resultados do estudo e, portanto, devem ser interpretados com cautela. O objetivo deste artigo é realizar criticamente esta abordagem, através de uma revisão da literatura, os erros que podem afetar este tipo de desenho de estudo e as possíveis estratégias para superar esses erros. Resultados e Discussão: Os erros mais conhecidos, presentes no delineamento de estudos caso-controle, foram os relacionados com a seleção e medição. Conclusão: No entanto, embora este tipo de estudo esteja sujeito a possíveis erros, as medidas preventivas postas em prática durante o planejamento de estudos caso-controle e até mesmo durante e após a sua execução podem ajudar a garantir o rigor científico. Esta revisão da literatura pode servir como um instrumento importante para o desenvolvimento e interpretação de estudos de caso-controle. Background and Objectives:Although case-control studies have many advantages, they are vulnerable to biases that can mask the true results of the study and, therefore, should be interpreted with caution. The aim of this article is to critically perform an assessment, through a literature review, of the errors that can affect this type of study design and possible strategies to overcome these errors. Results and Discussion: The best known errors found in the case-control study design are those related to selection and measurements. Conclusion: However, although this type of study is subject to possible errors, preventive measures implemented during the planning of case-control studies and even during and after their employment can help ensure scientific rigor.
