Ten kidneys were investigated by corrosion cast in this study. The renal arteries divided into the dorsal and ventral branches. The dorsal and ventral branches gave off the interlobar, arcuate and interlobular arteries, respectively. No anastomoses were seen between the renal arteries and their branches. A third branch originated from the junction of the dorsal and ventral branches in one right kidney. A dorsal branch gave off an interlobar artery supplying the ventral surface of one left kidney. An interlobar artery did not arise from the ventral branch at this part.
Study of the intrarenal arterial pattern of kidney by a corrosion cast method was carried out on 10 kidneys of wolves. The left renal artery was longer than the right one. The renal arteries divided into two dorsal and one ventral branches. The dorsal branches were longer and thinner than the ventral one. Both dorsal and ventral branches gave off the interlobar, arcuate and interlobular arteries, respectively. The right dorsal branch gave off 5–7 segmental arteries, the right ventral branch 4–5 segmental arteries, the left dorsal branch 6–9 segmental arteries and the left ventral branch 7–8 segmental arteries. No anastomoses were observed between the renal arteries and their branches.
This study examined the plexus lumbalis and its branches in the sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus). Fifteen sparrowhawks were used in this study. After administering an anaesthetic to the birds, the body cavities were opened. The birds were fixed with formaldehyde after draining of the blood. The nerves of the plexus lumbalis were dissected separately and photographed. The plexus lumbalis was formed by the union of the branches of the synsacral spinal nerves, which left from the ventrolaterale of os lumbosacrale. The plexus consisted of three (2nd, 3rd and 4th) synsacral spinal nerves. The cranial and caudal nerves originating from the plexus lumbalis were the nervus cutaneous femoris, nervus coxalis cranialis, nervus femoralis, nervus saphenus and nervus obturatorius. The general macroanatomical shape of the plexus lumbalis and the distribution of the nerves originating from this plexus were similar to those of other bird species.
SummaryThis study was undertaken to reveal morphometric skull features of the Tuj and Morkaraman sheep. The skulls of 10 months old 6 male Tuj and 6 male Morkaraman sheep were used. A number of 38 craniometric measurements were taken from skulls of both species. Craniofacial indices were also calculated. There were no significant differences determined between the heads of these species except the measurement which displayed the width between the two orbita (entorbitale entorbitale = least breadth between the orbits), P<0.05. The least breadth between the orbits of 66.58±2.263 mm in Tuj sheep and, 70.41±2.538 mm in Morkaraman sheep were obtained..

In this study, reformed eight adult Hasmer mandibles which were obtained from Bahri Dagdas Agricultural Research Institute were used. The mandible of the Hasmer sheep was measured at 19 points and the obtained values were compared with the other sheep breeds. Morphometric analysis of the mandible was measured with digital caliper and the data of the study were determined by arithmetic mean and standard error. The height of the mandible was 108.68±2.36 mm. and the length of the mandible was 186.30±9.30 mm. according to these measurements. These measured values showed some differences with other sheep breeds. In this study, the topographic locations of the mental and mandible foramen through which the clinically important mental and the mandible nerve pass are determined. According to the results of length correlation analysis in Hasmer sheep, there was strong positive correlation between length U1 and U3, length U1 and U12 between length U2 and U5, length U3 and U6, and length U5 and U6, while length U7 and U18 had a strong negative correlation. There was a strong correlation. This study is thought to be a source research for the studies on Hasmer sheep.
The interdigital glands of sheep perform various functions including those pertaining to sexual behaviors. Morphological and histological structure of the gland demonstrates differences among species. The aim of this study is to examine the morphological and histological structure of Hasak and Hasmer sheep's interdigital glands and to determine the differences with other sheep breeds. For this research, we selected 7 Hasak and 7 Hasmer female sheep. After scarification, the feet were obtained and used for anatomical and histological examinations. For the histological examination, the interdigital gland tissues were stained with Crossman modified triple, Periodic acid Schiff (PAS) and Alcian blue (AB) staining. The morphometric analysis results, mean values of weight, body length, body diameter, flexura, ductus length, ductus diameter, were observed as 0. 80mm, 14.61mm, 5.98mm, 5.62mm, 26.58mm and 3.25mm respectively in Hasak and 0.8mm, 15.46mm, 6.37mm, 5.70mm, 24.52 and 3.52 in Hasmer sheep. The histochemical staining revealed that the apocrine secretion of this gland was PAS positive and AB negative. The weight, body length, body diameter, flexura, ductus length and ductus diameter in the forefoot's interdigital glands of both Hasak and Hasmer sheep were higher in a statistically significant manner than those of the hindfeet's glands.
