However only animals on thermal comfort with pair feeding showed a decreasing protein deposition. The animals on heat stress showed lower fasting and carcass weights than those animals on thermal comfort with ad libitum feeding. The animals on heat stress showed fasting and carcass weights higher than those with pair feeding. The treatments did not affect carcass yield and relative weights of the evaluated organs, exception for stomach, that was smaller in T3. The physiological parameters (surface temperature and respiratory rate) were negatively affected by high temperature (T1). Rectal temperature was not influenced by the treatments. It was concluded that in the growing phase high temperature decreased pig performance and maintained a protein deposition in carcass, and this effect is not limitant to decrease feed intake.
Palavras-chave: ambiente térmico, carcaça, crescimento, leitões, parâmetros fisiológicos Effect of Thermal Environment on Performance of Growing Pigs from 15 to 30 kgABSTRACT -This trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of the environmental temperature on performance, carcass composition and physiological parameters of swine from 15 to 30 kg. Thirty-six barrow (Landrace x Large White) averaging initial weight of 14.97 + 0.56 kg were assigned to a completely randomized experimental design with three treatments and six replicates of two animals. The experimental period lasted 23 days. The physiological parameters (rectal temperature, surface temperature and respiratory rate) were negatively influenced by high temperature (treatmen...
This study was conducted to evaluate levels of digestible lysine for pigs at 30 to 60 kg kept under heat stress. It was used 70 castrated animals kept in environment at 30ºC and others 70 kept at 34ºC, distributed in a randomized block design, with five treatments (0.83, 0.93, 1.03, 1.13 and 1.23% digestible lysine), and seven repetitions with two animals per experimental unit. The daily weight gain of the animals kept at 30ºC increased up to 1.04% of digestible lysine, whereas it did not change at 34ºC. Feed daily intake of animals at 30ºC and 34ºC did not change with levels of lysine. Daily lysine intake of animals, in both environments, increased according to the level of lysine in the diet. At 30ºC, feed conversion improved up to the level of 1.07% lysine, whereas at 34ºC, it did not vary among lysine levels. Regardless of the temperature, use efficiency of lysine decreased as levels of lysine increased and it was 4.4% worse in the environment with higher temperature. Protein deposition in carcass in the 30ºC environment increased up to the level of 1.05% lysine, but it did not change at 34º...
This study was conducted to verify the effects of dietary crude protein reduction on growth and carcass performance of 22-42-day-old broilers reared under different temperatures. Treatments were set up in a five by two factorial arrangement, with five crude protein levels (220, 210, 200, 190 and 184 g/kg) and two temperatures (21.6 and 32.2 o C). Diets were isocaloric and essential amino acid-to-lysine ratio was maintained constant in all treatments. There was no interaction between crude protein reduction and environmental temperature for any of the parameters evaluated. Crude protein had no influence on feed intake. Nevertheless, weight gain and feed conversion ratio were linearly influenced by crude protein reduction. Worse performance was also observed in birds exposed to heat stress as compared with birds kept under thermoneutral temperature. There was no effect of crude protein reduction on breast and legs. Birds kept under heat stress had lower breast yield and higher leg yield as compared with broilers reared at 21.6 o C. Any crude protein reduction in the range of 220 to 184 g/kg for 22 to 42-day-old broilers has a negative effect on their performance. Heat stress worsens broiler performance and breast yield.
This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of the dietary digestible lysine levels and environmental temperature on performance and carcass characteristics of broiler chickens from 22 to 42 days-old. Six hundred seventy two males Ross ® broiler chickens with an average weight of 726 g were allotted to a completely randomized design, in a 4 × 4 factorial arrangement with six replicates and seven birds per experimental unit. The chickens were fed with different digestible lysine levels in the diet (0.934, 1.009, 1.084, and 1.159%) and kept under different environmental temperatures (18.5, 21.1, 24.5, and 27.0°C). There were no interactions between environmental temperature and lysine levels in the diet for the studied variables. Feed intake and the weight gain (WG) were not influenced by lysine levels in the diet. Feed intake linearly reduced with the environmental temperature and the WG increased up to the estimated temperature of 21.5°C. The feed:gain ratio improved up to the estimated digestible lysine level in the diet of 1.085%. The weights of carcass (CW), boned breast (BBW), thigh (TW) and drumstick (DW) increased up to the estimated temperatures of 21.9, 21.7, 22.7, and 23.7°C, respectively. The yields of carcass (CY), thigh (TY) and drumstick (DY) increased, whereas the deboned breast weight (DBW), the boned breast yield (BBY) and deboned breast yield (DBY) linearly decreased with the environmental temperature. The TW and TY increased, whereas the DY linearly decreased with the lysine levels in the diet. The lysine levels did not influence the CW, BBW, DW, CY, BBY and DBY. The environmental temperature in the range from 18.5 to 27.0°C did not influence the lysine requirements of the birds. The condition that provided better feed:gain ratio during the experimental period was obtained with the digestible lysine level in the diet of 1.085% and the estimated environmental temperature of 23.3°C.
Palavras-chave: cortes, desempenho, frangos de corte, proteína ideal, termoneutralidade Dietary crude protein level reduction for broilers maintained in thermoneutral environmentABSTRACT -The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of dietary crude protein (CP) level reduction of ration formulated according to ideal protein concept and with supplementation of industrial amino acids on the performance and yield of noble cuts of broilers from 22 to 42 days of age kept under thermoneutral conditions. It was used 280 "Cobb" male broilers with initial weight of 856 ± 6.48 g, distributed in a completely randomized experimental design, with five treatments (21.6; 20.6; 19.6; 18.6 and 17.6% CP) and eight replications with seven birds per experimental unit. Temperatures inside the rooms were maintained at 21.6 ± 0.7°C, relative humidity at 74.4.0% and black globe temperature of 22.5 ± 0.7°C. Black globe temperature and humidity index (BGHTI) calculated for a period of 70 ± 0.9. There was no effect of the reduction of the levels of CP on weight gain and on feed intake but feed conversion was influenced by the reduction of the CP levels, and the birds fed diet with 22.0% of CP presented a better result. The reduction of the levels of CP did not influence absolute carcass weight and absolute and relative weights of breast, thigh and drumstick. Reduction of the level of dietary CP from 21.6 to 17.6% and formulated according to ideal protein concept worsens feed conversion of broilers kept in thermoneutral environment, not influencing the other studied ...
Palavras-chave: ambiente térmico, cortes, desempenho, proteína ideal Reduction of dietary crude protein level for broilers maintained in heat stressing environmentABSTRACT -This study was performed to evaluate the effects of reduction of dietary crude protein level with supplementation of industrial amino acids on the performance and carcass yield of broilers between 22 to 42 days of age, under heat stress. It was used 280 Cobb broilers with initial weight of 856 ± 7.41 g, distributed in a complete randomized experimental design, with five crude protein levels (21.6; 20.6; 19.6; 18.6 and 17.6%), eight repetitions and seven broilers per experimental unit. The temperature inside the rooms was kept at 32.2 ± 0.6 o C, the relative humidity at 66 ± 3.2% and black globe temperature at 33.0 ± 0.7°C. The black globe-humidity index calculated for the period was 83 ± 0.9. There was no effect of crude protein levels on weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion of the birds. The reduction of dietary crude protein levels influenced the absolute weight of carcass and breast, and the level of 19.6% proportioned higher carcass and breast weights of the broilers compared to the level of 21.6% of crude protein. However, there was no effect of the reduction of levels of crude protein on absolute values of thigh and drumstick and also on breast, thigh and drumstick yields. The dietary crude protein level, formulated by using the ideal protein concept, can be reduced from 21.6 to 17.6% not negatively affecting the performance, absolute weight and nobl...
