O presente estudo tem o objetivo de trazer uma abordagem crítica acerca do fracasso escolar e sua relação com a medicalização, apresentando, em um primeiro momento, uma discussão epistemológica do tema, seguida de uma breve perspectiva histórica do fenômeno investigado. Apresentamos também duas pesquisas de campo realizadas: a primeira com 14 alunos da educação básica pública, feita por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas; e a segunda com 13 alunos formandos e 10 alunos egressos de um curso de Pedagogia de uma Universidade Federal, por meio de questionários on line. Buscamos conhecer a percepção deles sobre fracasso escolar, repetência e medicalização, acolhendo assim diferentes perspectivas. Os resultados mostraram que a compreensão individualizante/ biologizante/ patologizante/ medicalizante, fruto de uma educação acrítica muito conveniente aos interesses capitalistas, ainda predomina como percepção de alunos (sobre seu próprio fracasso) e de professores/ futuros professores. Assim, entendemos que cabe aos profissionais de educação não só se perceberem como agentes reprodutores de opressões e exclusões, como também direcionar esforços para a construção de políticas educacionais emancipatórias, desmedicalizantes e socialmente referenciadas.
O presente artigo visa desenvolver uma análise dos processos de precarização do trabalho docente, baseado em uma série de determinações advindas dos Organismos internacionais (Banco Mundial, FMI, OCDE etc.) para a educação brasileira como um condicionante para os investimentos dessas Agências internacionais no país. Com isso, passa a ser difundido na educação do Brasil pedagogias pós-modernas que visam adequar a educação, bem como o trabalho do professor, aos interesses desses Organismos. No entanto, o que eles denominam como “moderno” e “de qualidade” em termos educacionais, consideramos como um processo de precarização, que visa sucatear a educação nacional e entregá-la aos interesses do mercado internacional e aviltar o trabalho do professor, que passa a caracterizar-se como ainda mais explorado e precarizado.
Motivados por uma pesquisa em andamento sobre educação e pandemia, objetivamos debater o processo antidemocrático construído nas entranhas da educação pública, que responde por seu estrangulamento. Em meio à pandemia do Covid-19, vozes docentes rompem as mordaças para denunciar as impossibilidades de uma educação democrática, após a intensificação dos desmontes, das ameaças de perda de autonomia e da precarização das condições de trabalho/ vida com a imposição intencional, atabalhoada e excludente do ensino remoto. Assim, reflexões teóricas e dados sobre a crise sanitária e o desigual acesso à tecnologia e direitos básicos, apontam para a necessidade de uma democracia participativa mais forte, com debate e elaboração coletiva de políticas públicas que garantam saúde e educação para todos.
