Fiber-optic probes are imperative for in-vivo diagnosis of cancer. Depending on the access to a diseased organ and the mutations one aims to sense, the probe designs vary. We carry out a detailed numerical study of the efficacy of the common probe geometries for epithelial cancer characterization based on spatially resolved reflectance data. As per the outcomes of this comparative study, a probe has been manufactured and using Monte Carlo look up table based inversion scheme, the absorption and scattering coefficients of the epithelium mimicking top layer have been recovered from noisy synthetic as well as experimental data.

The field of standard finance states that an equity market investor acts as a judicious individual who is capable of dealing with all forms of data in a fair-minded way. On the other hand, the rapidly evolving field of behavioral finance relies upon true experience expressing that any and every equity market investor has his own set of inclinations which most of the times are unreasonable. Thus, feelings and behaviour have assumed a significant position in the sort of investment decisions embraced by equity market investors. For quite a long time, financial therapists and social experts have stood up in opposition to the principles of standard finance and managerial economics, contending that individuals do not behave logically every time and it is asking for way too much to expect investors to become utility-expanding players in a market which is not efficient in reality. The area of knowledge called as behavioural finance emerged in the early stages of 1970s in order to resolve such matters and collect a broad number of instances when individuals deliberately act "unreasonably."

Fluorescence spectroscopy has the potential to identify discriminatory signatures, crucial for early diagnosis of cervical cancer. We demonstrate here the design, fabrication and testing of a 3D printed smartphone based spectroscopic device. Polarized fluorescence and elastic scattering spectra are captured through the device using a 405 nm laser and a white LED source respectively. The device has been calibrated by comparison of spectra of standard fluorophores (Flavin adenine dinucleotide, fluorescein, rhodamine, and porphyrin) with the corresponding spectra collected from a commercial spectrometer. A few cervical tissue spectra have also been captured for proof of its applicability as a portable, standalone device for the collection of intrinsic fluorescence spectra from human cervix.
