Abstract-This research aims to know the effect of using interactive multimedia towards concepts mastery and critical thinking skill of students on the material of temperature ang heat. This research is an experimental research that uses pretest-posttest control design. The sample of this research is grade XA and XB students of SMAN 1 Alas in the academic year 2013/2014 that determined by cluster random sampling technique. The instruments that used to collect the data are test sheets of mastering concepts is developed based on indicator of temperature and heat learning material on the sub topic of expansion, heat transfer and black principle. Meanwhile, the test of critical thinking skill is developed based on the indicator of argument analysis shows that mean score of concepts mastery of experimental group is 61% and control group is 54%. The result of t-test of concepts mastery and critical thinking skill shows that experimental group is significantly higher that control group. It means that the use of interactive multimedia has an effect towards concepts mastery and critical thinking skill of students on the material of temperature and heat.
In this research, interactive multimedia on thermodynamic concepts was developed and tested. The purpose of this research was to assess the effectiveness of interactive multimedia through a problem-based learning approach to students' critical thinking disposition. The research development had three stages: preliminary study, development, and field testing. The field testing was a quasiexperiment with a pretest and posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of four lecturers as expert validators, two teachers and two groups of 65 students in a high school in Mataram city, Indonesia. Data were gathered by using questionnaires, observation, interviews, and written test. The results of the Normalized-gain test were 53.1 for the experiment group and 52.2 for the control group. This shows that there were differences in the increase of students' critical thinking dispositions between the control group and the experiment group. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of interactive multimedia could improve students' critical thinking dispositions.
Paleostress analysis on the landslide boundary faults is able to explain the sliding mechanism. This method is particularly useful to study a paleolandslide. About 30 striated fault planes from the Parangtritis paleo-landslide, located in the Yogyakarta coastline, were analyzed to define their principle stress axes. The eastern boundary fault, named as the Girijati Fault, was the main fault responsible for the mass movement and leaving a considerable steep cliff. It moved normal in a left lateral sense with ENE – WSW extension and dragged the rockmass southward, creating a NNW – SSW extension along the Parangtritis Fault and turn it into the western boundary fault. The rockmass slided along the stratigraphic contact between the underlying Nglanggran Formation and the overlying Wonosari Formation, created a semi-circular crown cliff as the northern boundary and produced some isolated topographic highs of the thrust block near the toe. In this study, we have developed physics learning devices based on guided inquiry with experiments to improve students’ creativity. Research and development are carried out in several stages starting with preliminary studies to testing. Experts then validate learning tools that have been developed before being implemented to determine their effectiveness in increasing creativity. Validity data was obtained from the appraisal sheet for the appraisal of learning devices that are assessed by experts. The effectiveness data were obtained from the results of creativity tests in the form of tests of verbal, figural, numerical, and procedural creativity. The results of the study show that learning tools are valid and effective in enhancing student creativity. An aspect of procedural creativity was increased higher than other aspects. In addition, students can provide answers with original thoughts using their language based on experiments and the results of discussions that have been conducted.
Sedimentological and stratigraphic analysis of outcrops and subsurface data in the Mahakam Delta province, combined with concepts of transgressive sedimentary processes derived from a study of the modern Mahakam Delta, indicate that a significant portion of the palaeo-Mahakam Delta succession was deposited during transgressive phases. Some of the transgressive successions resulted from major transgressions and are regionally extensive, but many reflect small, short-lived transgressions within dominantly progradational phases. Two sandstone facies with significant reservoir potential are common within the transgressive successions. Backfilled distributary sandstones occur in outcrop as 10–20 m thick, fining-upward channel sands that become more marine upward and in the subsurface as elongate, coastline-perpendicular sand bodies with a back-stepping stratigraphic architecture and highly variable thickness. Transgressive shoreline sandstones also fine upward, but they are shoreline-parallel, their lateral extent is controlled by the pre-transgression delta morphology and their thickness depends on the rate of relative sea-level rise. Both types of transgressive sandstone can be difficult to distinguish from specific progradational sandstones with wireline log data, especially when they occur within predominantly progradational successions. However, their sand body geometries, volumetrics and connectivity are much different from the stratigraphically adjacent sandstones deposited during progradational phases of deltaic deposition.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
