Experiments have been carried out on determining the value of the moment of inertia of a hollow cylinder. This study aims to analyze the value of the moment of inertia with variations in the radius of the hollow cylinder using the Phyphox Application (Physical Phone Experiment). This research is experimental. The tools and material used area 1-meter longboard, three hollow cylinders with different radius sizes but the same mass, smartphone, laptop, caliper, and balance. The experiment of rolling motion on a hollow cylinder on an inclined plane is assisted by data processing in a Phyphoxapplication. From the experiment, the result of the moment of inertia value from data processing is 4.89 x 10-4kg.m2, 9.82 x 10-4kg.m2, 12.4 x10-4kg.m2. This research can be used as a teacher reference in teaching the topic of moments of inertia in physics learning at school. This is highly recommended for distance learning during the pandemic so that mastery of concepts is maximized. Further research is suggested that it can be tried to use other materials with other types of rigid bodies to find the moment of inertia. Further references on digital application media to assist learning are also needed considering the dynamic development of technology.
In the region of Indonesia, several volcanoes are still active and can erupt at any time. Knowledge of volcanic eruptions is very important for residents around the volcano because it will be related to the preparedness of residents at the time of volcanic eruptions. If the knowledge and preparedness of the citizens are good, it will prevent so many victims. This study aimed to analyze students’ levels of disaster preparedness in the face of catastrophic volcanic eruptions. The research used is a quantitative descriptive method with a research sample of 32 students of class VII SMPN 2 Ngemplak taken by cluster random sampling. The data collection techniques used are interviews, and questionnaires. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the student preparedness index for each indicator of preparedness in the dealing of a catastrophic volcanic eruption is (1) knowledge and attitude 72.40 categorized ready, (2) emergency planning 59.38 categorized almost ready (3) early warning system 61.72 categorized almost ready and (4) resource mobilization is in the index 64.06 with almost ready category. So that the average index value of the four parameters of disaster preparedness of volcanic eruptions is 64.72 with the category almost ready. This research can be used as a basis for the development of teaching materials to help reduce the risk of volcanic eruptions.
The issue of environmental damage has been widely discussed in recent years in various parts of the world. Environmental literacy is very necessary for the prevention of environmental problems and for creating a healthy environment. One effective model to improve environmental literacy in schools is Experiential Learning, which invites students to design actions to care for the environment and actively participate in providing solutions to environmental problems. This study aims to determine the environmental literacy profile of students at SMPN 4 Depok in experiential learning-based science learning. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a cluster random sampling technique, namely 50 students of classes VIIA and VII C. The data collection instrument used was 7 environmental literacy description test questions developed from 4 environmental literacy indicators (knowledge, attitudes, skills, and behavior). Data analysis was carried out quantitatively by calculating the percentage to determine the category of students' environmental literacy. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the average achievement of the knowledge aspect was 86.2%; the attitude aspect is 65.5%; the skill aspect is 82.5%, and the behavioral aspect is 71.4%. The average of these results shows the level of environmental literacy is 76.4% which is included in the high category. After knowing the environmental literacy profile of students, it is necessary to develop research on interesting and innovative media in science learning so that the four stages of Experiential Learning can run more optimally.
This study explored the constraints of learning science with an online learning system (on the network) in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. This research design was descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Phenomenology is an effort that aims to explain something that occurs according to reality. Data was collected through questionnaires open to SMP/MTs students and semi-structured interviews with student parents. The data analysis technique in this study used data Qualitative data that were presented without numerical calculations. The study results showed that learning science with the online method encountered many obstacles. The barriers to learning science with online methods referred to three important aspects, namely differences in student learning style, technological literacy, and parental support.
This article aims to explain the use of tracker applications on Kinetic Orbital Art (KOA) and magic gyroscope in physics learning. This study uses descriptive analysis methods. The accelerated value of earth's gravity in the kinetic circular motion of orbital art and magic gyroscopes aided analysis with tracker applications and Microsoft Excel programs. The results will be compared to get a graph of position relationships with time. From research conducted on the motion of KOA and magic gyroscope assisted tracker application obtained acceleration value is 9.44 m/s2 and 9.56 m/s2. The graph obtained from both objects is not referred to as parabolic motion on the KOA chart resembles a parabolic motion, while the motion of the magic gyroscope is referred to as circular motion. Thus, the use of tracker application on KOA and magic gyroscope can be recommended as a learning medium of Physics in schools
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
