Objective: To analyze the evolution of child mortality. Methods: A descriptive ecological study was conducted. The database of deaths provided by the Mortality Information System between 2006 and 2010 was used. Only records in which the city of residence and occurrence of deaths corresponded to the city of Porto Velho and whose children were younger than 12 months at the time of death were included in this study. In addition, only deaths from preventable neonatal and post-neonatal causes were analyzed. Results: In the city of Porto Velho, during the period studied, there is a predominance of mothers aged between 20 and 34 years, whose percentages of child deaths varied between 26.0% in 2006 and 29.0% in 2010, with small variations in the remaining years. There was an increasing trend towards premature deaths, except in 2009, when the percentage was 45.0%. Between 2006 and 2007, this percentage remained at 50.0%, increasing to 53% in 2008 and subsequently to 54.0% of deaths among children younger than one year in 2010. Conclusion: The estimate of incidence of child mortality in the period studied remained higher than the value expected by 2015 in Brazil.
Organizational commitment is a complex theme that has been generating, both in literature and practice, discussions concerning the relationship between the past data and variables that may evaluate them. The organization looking for the strategic participation but not exactly finding that shows the need of an affective commitment. In order to find out that, it was searched the existing literature followed by a field research. Through an exploratory and descriptive research, it was explored if there is any relationship between an efficient internal communication and the affective commitment among people within an organization. The literature showed that communication is one of the main commitment factors and that the communication process is fundamental in the commitment strategy. It means, communication must be planned, with different channels and tools, permitting in this way, all areas to act synergistically in the organization. Elaborating these aspects and concepts, it was developed a field research, involving 79 employees from a company presented in the "100 Melhores Empresas para Você Trabalhar" ranking, in 2003, published by the Revista Exame Guide, Você S. A. The results demonstrated that there is a great dependence and association among an efficient internal communication, organizational communication plan and the affective commitment, so that it´s possible to conclude that the affective commitment is associated to an efficient internal communication.
Discutimos os desafios que perpassam a constituição de uma política institucional de internacionalização da educação superior, a partir do caso da Universidade da Integração Internacional da Lusofonia Afro-Brasileira (UNILAB). Para tanto, apresentamos referências teórico-empíricas consideradas significativas à compreensão e análise de políticas públicas em universidades, destacando dimensões e fases das políticas públicas. Mobilizamos também o conceito de campo enquanto relevante à análise da construção e efetivação de políticas públicas. Articulamos também referências interpretativas e pragmáticas à estruturação e à dinâmica do campo. Em seguida, indicamos desafios teórico-empíricos à construção e efetivação de uma política de internacionalização na UNILAB, identificados no cotidiano experienciado no campo. Finalizamos refletindo acerca de algumas interfaces necessárias à essa política, bem como apontando desafios e contradições que dificultam à instituição e à comunidade acadêmica avançarem nessa internacionalização. Desse modo, espera-se apontar questões teórico-empíricas que possam fortalecer as possibilidades de construção de políticas de internacionalização nas universidades. Os dados gerados e as análises efetuadas decorrem de observação participante, análise documental, entrevistas, questionários e oficinas de cartografia social.
RESUMOAprofunda o entendimento de como a universidade gerencia seu conhecimento com vista a avaliar as práticas da Gestão do Conhecimento, com o suporte na percepção dos alunos dos cursos de graduação. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar as práticas em Gestão do Conhecimento da UNILAB, na percepção dos universitários de cursos de graduação, quanto à visão geral da organização pública, nas dimensões Organizacional, Humana e Externa, utilizando-se da busca do software WebQDA, uma ferramenta para análise de dados qualitativos a fim de conhecer a capacidade de utilização de capital humano, a produção do conhecimento, a melhoria contínua das estruturas e processos organizacionais. A pesquisa de campo qualitativa desenvolveu análise categorial das dimensões organizacional, humana e externa, acerca da gestão do conhecimento, buscando-se em entrevistas com alunos dos cursos de graduação da UNILAB. A análise e discussão dos dados coletados propiciam se verificar se a gestão da Universidade utiliza o conhecimento como um meio estratégico para consecução dos objetivos e metas organizacionais em ação específica da Gestão do Conhecimento (GC) em uma instituição pública, e como a GC pode contribuir para que a instituição possa prover a melhoria da prestação de serviço, em termos de qualidade e sustentabilidade, para estudantes brasileiros ou estrangeiros, conforme sua missão. . The aim of this paper is to identify the socio biodiversity practices that take place in the Pitaguary community and how these cultural practices reflects in the sustainability of their space. Socio biodiversity and sustainability are two concepts which belong to the life of indigenous people. They are fundamental to an ecological balanced environment and to the quality of life of human beings. The relationship established with nature combined with the traditional knowledge in the natural resources management to produce many items of the biodiversity make these people real natural universe specialists. The indigenous people possess an immeasurable cultural legacy in regard of the biodiversity and sustainability. The natural resources extraction and the harmonic relationship established with the nature elements are undoubtedly unique and it results in sustainability. It was carried out an ethnography study investigating the ancestral traditional practices of socio biodiversity and sustainability in the Pitaguary ethnicity known as "Santo Antônio do Pitaguary". The community is located closest to the Santo Antônio dam in the Maracanaú city, Fortaleza metropolitan region in the Ceará State, Brazil. The method consisted of an exploratory-descriptive study with a qualitative approach and the use of interviews and direct observation as techniques. The results highlight that the ancestral culture and memory are present in the socio biodiversity practices of the Pitaguary community.
