Digestive tract obstruction in pets attended in a Veterinary Hospital during 2010This study aimed to examine the cases of simple, partial and complete obstructions of the digestive tract of small animals treated at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Viçosa during the year of 2010, reporting the evolution period, clinical and laboratorial changes, and the outcome of patients, as well as determining breed, sexual and age predilections. Predisposition of small breeds and ages ranging from two to twelve months and after five years was observed, with breed predilection for Teckels The largest number of foreign bodies was found in the stomach and intestines, with greater severity and higher mortality rate when compared with esophageal foreign bodies. The longest clinical course contributed to higher mortality rates. Clinical symptoms of the animals were quite diverse, but apathy and anorexia occurred in most cases. Regurgitation and vomiting were frequent when the foreign body was esophageal or gastrointestinal, respectively. The laboratory tests were nonspecific.

The Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) concentrates the platelets and their growth factors, increasing the rate of bone formation and better quality of trabecular bone. This research presents a protocol to
Background: Cardiomyocytes have small potential for renovation and proliferation in vivo. Consequently, the heart muscle has limited capacity of self-renewal. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) therapy, as well as MSC differentiated into cardiomyocytes, has been used in the attempt to minimize the effects of ischemic-hypoxic lesions and those affecting the electrical conduction system of the heart.
Both treatments gave better results than daily cleaning of the cutaneous lesions with saline or covering of the lesions with semipermeable adherent bandage.
Palavras-chave: rato, imobilização articular, remobilização articular, artrose ABSTRACT Thirty-four rats were randomly allocated into one of four experimental groups: without immobilization (G1), immobilization of the right knee joint for 45 days (G2), immobilization and remobilization with free activity for 5 weeks (G3), and immobilization and remobilization with free activity and swimming program for 5 weeks (G4). The immobilization was prejudicial to march and flexibility articular. Animals from G4 showed a better march evolution on the first five days as compared to those from G3. After that
PURPOSE: To evaluate the effects of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) from eight mice C57BL/6 gfp+ bone marrows expanded in cultures associated with platelets rich plasma (PRP) deriving from another eight mice, in the repair of critical defects in calvarial bone produced in twenty-four adult isogenic mice C57BL/6. METHODS: The animals were submitted to a cranial defect of 6.0mm in diameter and divided into two equal experimental groups. Control group did not receive treatment and the treated group received a MSC pellet containing 1.0 x 10(7) cells/mL associated with 50.0µL of plasma gel containing 1.0 x 10(9) autologous platelets within the defect. RESULTS: In the treated group was observed process of angiogenesis and bone repair better than control group. CONCLUSION: Mesenchymal stem cells derived from bone marrow of C57BL/6 gfp+ mice associated with PRP gel applied in bone critical defects produced in calvarial contributes positively to the process of bone repair.
