O artigo analisa as manifestações dos candidatos a cargos eletivos de âmbito federal e estadual, durante o processo eleitoral do ano de 2014, quanto ao Programa Mais Médicos, presentes na mídia comercial impressa e on-line, identificando ideias, imagens e crenças sobre tal política pública. Um mapeamento do posicionamento dos candidatos objetivava identificar sentidos e significados sobre o programa, explicitando a descrição de problemas e soluções acerca da provisão de trabalhadores no Sistema Único de Saúde. Os dados obtidos demonstraram que o tema do provimento emergencial de médicos extrapolou o subsistema ou campo da Saúde e foi assumido como agenda no sistema político. Tanto os candidatos manifestamente favoráveis ao programa quanto aqueles que faziam críticas expressaram publicamente a imagem de um programa necessário e uma estratégia com a qual estariam comprometidos. O programa ampliou muito a visibilidade da agenda setorial da Saúde.

O artigo discute a atenção à crise em saúde mental com base em uma pesquisa-intervenção em andamento que vem cartografando os modos de acolhimento operados em três emergências de hospitais gerais de Porto Alegre. Os processos de cuidado em relação à saúde mental aparecem tão plurais e individualizados quanto as estratégias de que estes trabalhadores lançam mão para dar conta das ansiedades que tais atendimentos mobilizam. Neste percurso de pesquisa no qual a dimensão de formação e intervenção não estão separadas, a proposta é de pôr em análise o acolhimento com classificação de risco junto ao tema da crise em saúde mental, na perspectiva da Política Nacional de Humanização. O medo ao desconhecido, o estigma associado à loucura e, fundamentalmente, a sensação de despreparo dos profissionais para escutar e resolver os problemas que surgem nos atendimentos emergenciais produz efeitos de invisibilidade sobre a dimensão da saúde mental presente em muitos desses atendimentos. Uma espécie de “foco míope” no trabalho aí desenvolvido emerge como efeito deste modo de trabalhar que, sendo tomado como analisador, pode apontar caminhos de resgate ao sentido, muitas vezes perdido, do acolhimento como diretriz e dispositivo de humanização da saúde.
