Formation of Methyldithiophosphinic Acid and Its SaltsThe dimethylammonium salt 1 ofthe title compound 2 has been obtained from the reaction of MeP(NMe,), with H,S. A solution of the free acid 2 and its sodium salt was prepared by ion exchange followed by neutralization. NMR data of the compounds are given. On heating or storing at room temperature 1 decomposes with evolution of HNMe, and H,S yielding the dimethylammonium salt of (dimethylamido)methyldithiophosphonic acid ( 5 ) as an intermediate.
