Purpose: This study sought to explore the association between the constructs individual absorptive capacity and entrepreneurial intention in successors of rural properties in a cooperative system. Originality/value: The contribution presented expands the field of entrepreneurship studies and family succession, as well as it brings elements for the management of rural properties. Empirically, the results offer new elements for managers of cooperatives and other similar organizations to formulate strategies to assist in the preparation of the successors’ dilemma. Design/methodology/approach: The design of the adopted method followed a quantitative approach, of descriptive level, of the type survey, and transverse section. The study included 84 successors of rural properties, who were participants in a Skills Development Program for the continuity of young people in the management of properties. Questionnaires were used to evaluate the constructs of individual absorptive capacity and entrepreneurial intention. The statistical analysis used the Kruskal-Wallis with the Dunn post hoc adjusted by the Benjamini-Hochberg FDR method, Spearman correlation, and modeling structural equations with estimation by Partial Least Squares. Findings: The main conclusion of the study suggests that the successors with greater perceived behavioral control assimilate and transform more knowledge with applicability potential in the succession management in rural properties.
This study aims to assess the relationship between entrepreneurial guidance and cost practices in hotels. The material to carry out descriptive and relational research with a quantitative approach was a self-administered questionnaire answered by hotel managers in 16 cities in the South region of Brazil. The data collected were analyzed using ANOVA and Spearman's correlation analysis. The results of this study showed that hotels that adopt the activity-based costing method and form the price considering market values are the ones that have the highest entrepreneurial orientation, respectively. Among the practical implications, the results can assist in management decision-making. At the same time, when working with the formation of the daily rate, it is found that the hotels that carry out pricing based on market values are the ones that have the best cost practices. The study has originality, as it demonstrates a conservative attitude in hotels regarding risk-taking.
The study aimed to assess workers’ perception of autonomy, attentional control for multitasking, and well-being. The research is a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional survey. Administrative technicians in education at the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina responded to the instruments. There is a negative relationship between attentional control for multitasking and well-being at work, that the dimension of autonomous motivation of autonomy is related to well-being and attentional control for multitasking is related to autonomous motivation. The study contributes to advancing the understanding of behavioral, cognitive, and emotional issues in the context of telework.
ABSTRACT Emotional regulation occurs through the expression of feelings daily and is directly related to subjective well-being. This is a topic of discussion among company managers as it is associated with commitment at work. This study aimed to relate the subjective well-being with the organizational commitment of accounting professionals. The research was quantitative and exploratory. The population consisted of 208 employees from four accounting offices in southern Brazil, resulting in a sample of 155 respondents. Data were collected through the application of a self-administered questionnaire divided into two parts. The first, based on Albuquerque and Tróccoli (2004), used a scale to assess subjective well-being divided into positive, negative affect and life satisfaction. The second, to measure organizational commitment based on the model of Meyer and Allen (1991) being divided into affective, instrumental, and normative commitment. The results obtained showed that the employees' affective commitment is directly related to positive affections and satisfaction with life. It was also found that for the accounting professionals participating in the survey, the greater the normative and instrumental commitment, the greater the negative affect and the lower their satisfaction with life.
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate entrepreneurship classes' influence on entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial competences in health academics.Design/methodology/approach: The model by De Noble, Jung, and Ehrlich (1999) was used to measure entrepreneurial self-efficacy and the model by Cooley (1990, 1991) to measure entrepreneurial competences. It is a quantitative, descriptive, and survey research. Two hundred sixty-seven undergraduate health students participated in the study. Statistical analysis used descriptive and correlational statistics with comparison tests.Findings: The results showed that the students who studied entrepreneurship presented higher self-efficacy and entrepreneurial competences, but there were no significant differences between those who studied and those who did not.Originality/value: This study presents the potential for promoting entrepreneurship in HEI for courses that are not directly associated with business management, especially health science courses. When analyzing the participants' behavioral characteristics, we seek to deepen the discussion on the central themes of the study and promote reflections on the importance of entrepreneurial education for the development of future health professionals.
The objective was to evaluate the profile of the organizational values perceived by the successors in the decision process on continuity in agribusiness in a cooperative system. The design of the method followed a quantitative, descriptive, survey, and cross-sectional approach. One hundred nineteen successors participated in the study. Descriptive statistics and tests were applied to compare groups and relate dimensions. Successors realize that there is a relationship between collectivist and individualist values in rural property. The undecided ones do not perceive significant differences in values in most of the values. The article demonstrates the need to adapt to the regional cooperative system and rural properties to the associated successors' values.
