Burnout is characterized by mental and physical exhaustion owing to prolonged emotional stress. Material and methods. 105 anaesthesiologists were questioned as to the causes of job-related stress and their personal attitude to the job based on the Maslach Burnout Questionnaire. Questionnaire survey findings were compared in relation to the doctors' practical experience. Results. Burnout symptoms were found to occur in 82% of anaesthesiologists with practical experience less than 5 years, and in 84% of doctors with practical experience above 20 years. These groups revealed high values of emotional burnout on the Maslach scale. Anaesthesiologists with 5-20 years of work experience revealed moderate levels of emotional burnout. High level of depersonalization was found in those with 5-20 years of work experience. For doctors who had less than 5 years and more than 20 years of work experience, depersonalization level was moderate. Conclusions. The group of anaesthesiologists with more than 20 years of work experience had the highest values of professional relationship reduction. The lowest value of this component of burnout was found in the young doctors with work experience of less than 5 years. About 80% of the doctors pointed out working intensity and insufficient salary as the main causes of work-related stress.
IntroductionThe problem of emigration and re-emigration in Ukraine is among the most actual state and social problems.ObjectivesTo research clinical-psychopathological peculiarities of depressions in “working” emigrants and re-emigrants.MethodologyThe investigation was carried out in Ternopil Region. Psychogenic depressive disorders (F43.21 and F43.22 according to ICD-10) were diagnosed in 69 non-emigrants, 68 emigrants, and 67 re-emigrants; endogenous ones (F31.3, F31.4, F32.1, F32.2, F33.1, and F33.2 according to ICD-10) were diagnosed in 65, 66, and 63 persons correspondingly; and organic ones (F06.3 according to ICD-10) were diagnosed in 64, 62, and 61 persons correspondingly.ResultsIt was found out an influence of emigration and re-emigration factors on psychoemotional sphere of the patients. The influence of the emigration factor was the most manifested in patients with psychogenic depressive disorders and was a less manifested in patients with endogenous and organic depression. Re-emigrants had the most severe depressive symptoms that might be explained by an impact of psychosocial factors. In the syndromological structure of depressive disorders it was determined that re-emigrants were more affected by typical affective syndromes – vital and apathic depression, whereas emigrants were more affected by atypical affective syndromes, including anxious-depressive and agitation ones. It might be explained by an influence of objective social-psychological factors as well as an intrapsychic transformation of actual stressors connected with emigration and re-emigration.ConclusionsEmigration should be considered as a factor promoting a pathologically characterological development towards anxious-depressive changes, whereas re-emigration should be considered as a factor of asthenic-depressive and apathic-depressive transformations.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.
Features of the quality of life of 132 combatants with non-psychotic mental disorders who were sick with COVID-19 and 120 who were not sick with COVID-19 were studied, using the metho dology of I. Mezzich et al. in the adaptation of N. O. Maruta. Low quality of life indica- tors were established in areas reflecting psychological functioning, and somewhat less — physical functioning, while maintaining high indicators in areas related to the influence of the environ- ment and social support, with significantly higher indicators in combatants who did not suffer from COVID-19: according to in the sphere of physical well-being — 7.67 ± 1.10 points against 7.10 ± 1.29 points (p < 0.01), psychological (emotional) well-being — 5.59 ± 1.95 points against 4.60 ± 1,96 points (p < 0.01), self-care and independence of actions — 9.46 ± 0.78 points versus 9.03 ± 1.01 points (p < 0.01), working capacity — 7.70 ± 1.35 points against 7.02 ± 1.48 points (p < 0.01), interpersonal interaction — 6.15 ± 2.32 points against 4.91 ± 2.45 points (p < 0.01), socio-emotional support — 9.23 ± 1.01 points against 8.75 ± 1.20 points (p < 0.01), public and official support — 9.40 ± 0.73 points against 9.01 ± 0.91 points (p < 0.01), personal re- alization — 5.96 ± 1.98 points against 4.95 ± 2.06 points (p < 0.01), spiritual realization — 7.76 ± 1.06 points against 7.23 ± 1.01 points (p < 0.01), total perception of life — 4.88 ± 1.90 points against 3.92 ± 1.74 points (p < 0.01); as well as in integral spheres of subjective well-being/ satisfaction — 18.14 ± 4.87 points against 15.62 ± 4.88 points (p < 0.01), performance of social roles — 29.28 ± 6.26 points against 25.91 ± 6.87 points (p < 0.01), external living conditions — 26.39 ± 2.70 points against 24.98 ± 3.04 points (p < 0.01), and the general quality of life indicator: 7.38 ± 1.37 points versus 6.65 ± 1.47 points (p < 0.01). The revealed regularities convincingly testify to the negative impact of transferred COVID-19 in combatants with non-psychotic mental disorders on quality of life in general and in its specific spheres.
