The synthesis of bromo derivatives cardanolic novolac resins (BCNR) using infrared, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, gel permeation chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance 1 H and 13 C methods was studied. The mechanism of thermal degradation of BCNR is proposed. It is shown, that particleboards manufactured using PU-(BCNR) as an adhesive are materials with enhanced flame retardant properties, meeting the requirements of P7 class to EN 312 (especially durable moistureresistant particleboards) and the requirements of the emission class Super E0. The bromine in the structure of the cardanolcontaining polyurethane binder allows achieving both high physical and mechanical characteristics of the particleboards and resistance to flame.

We demonstrate the use of innovative wetting method in prediction of the adhesion properties of biobased polymers for two‐component injection moulding, taking into account the acid–base surface properties of joined materials. The measurements were carried out in accordance with modified Berger method by calculation of the difference in shortened acidity parameter ΔDshort between hard and soft component. Correlation factors up to 0.99 were observed between ΔDshort and peel force. In comparison to results obtained by conventional wetting methods, high potential for the selection of components with high interface adhesion and for prediction of the functionality by the acid–base approach was demonstrated. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We introduced the preparation of hybrid composites using technical cellulose as a matrix material from rice husks with a natural SiO 2 content from 0% to 19.4%. In this work, the physicochemical characteristics of the resulting hybrid composites have been investigated. The presence of SiAOAC chemical bonds in the resulting hybrid composites was determined by infrared spectroscopy. Microscopic analysis showed the complete removal of the mineral component and lignin from the cell wall of the rice husk fibers. This allows obtaining of an expanded surface of the fibers (101.7 m 2 /g) with uniform distribution of the TiO 2 aggregates. It could be shown that with content increasing of natural silicon dioxide in the hybrid composite the decomposition rate of H 2 O 2 also increases.

The existing wetting methods for the determination of acid-base properties on solid surfaces are discussed. Striving for a better understanding of the adhesive polymer interactions in adhesively joined polymers, the methods of Berger and van Oss-ChaudhuryGood were found as the most suitable methods for the investigation of wetting on solid polymer surfaces. Methods of nonlinear systems by Della Volpe and Siboni were adapted and evaluated on plastic surfaces. In the context of these investigations various data of the surface free energy as well as its components have been identified for a number of polymer surfaces by application of spatial equation solutions.
